Beyond her knowledge, her soothing voice, and calm demeanor make her perfect for this role. Her mere presence in the birth room shifted the atmosphere for me. During a time that was fueled by anxiety, she constantly reminded me of my abilities and eased my worries.

The Local Doula service is phenomenal. Lauren is one of the most devoted, skillful, and loving healthcare providers I have ever had care for me. Lauren’s presence feels like a warm hug on a cold day or a nice glass of ice water in mid-July. Lauren is competent, well-versed, and knowledgable about the labor and birth process and is the best provider to have by your side during one of life’s most beautiful and scary moments. What I appreciated about The Local Doula during my labor and birth experience, was when my labor experience started to look different than I had hoped (c-section instead of a vaginal birth), The Local Doula affirmed me as a woman, cradled me with confidence, and assaged my nerves through her steady speech, words of affirmation, and belief in my ability. Lauren helped me move to a place of acceptance about my birth experience and she truly provided me with the reassurance I needed in the moment. After my baby was born, the way The Local Doula celebrated me, my body, and the baby was so sweet. She made me feel like a million bucks, and she smiled at my baby as if it was her most prized possession. That is touching. To be in the care of a healthcare provider who is as attentive as The Local Doula is a priceless experience. I am so blessed to have had her. I can not recommend The Local Doula enough. I cannot say enough wonderful things about our experience with Lauren. She supported me and my husband through the birth of both of our youngest children, and I truly can’t imagine going through those moments without her by our side. From the very beginning, she showed so much love, and compassion—making house visits, listening to my concerns, and always providing the calm reassurance I needed for both pregnancy. During both births, she brought a sense of peace and comfort that allowed me to stay grounded and focused. I was blessed to have access to Lauren's Standard Birth Package and her Postpartum Care package during my pregnancy, labor, and postpartum with my first child. I say "blessed" because her services were nothing short of angelic. Lauren was an active participant in each stage of my pregnancy, the 30+ hours of labor, and the first two weeks of my postpartum journey. Lauren provided a wealth on knowledge, support, and guidance in way's I didn't even know to ask for, because it was my first time being pregnant and giving birth. Things like emotional support (when I wasn't sure if it was the hormones making me feel crazed, the anxiety of being a first time mom, or both), scientific guidance around the changes my body and mind were going through (which kept me from using solely relying on "Dr. Google", which I do not recommend), and spiritual support through her love and prayers over me, my baby, and my husband. Her hands on approach to prenatal care, labor support, and postpartum care cannot be praised enough, and set the standard, for me, of what intentional loving support looks and feels like for mothers and their babies. Even with needing a C-section (my baby's head was too big for my birth canal and my blood pressure was rising as my baby's blood pressure was dropping), I wouldn't change a single thing about my birthing experience because of Laurens support and advocacy for me in that labor and delivery room. I believe with my whole heart, that this is the work Lauren was sent to this earth to do, and she does it with grace, compassion, and a love that, again, can only be described as "angelic".
