About Lavitta

My name is Lavitta Sims, and I am the owner of The Gentle Journey Doula Co. I have been supporting families through pregnancy and birth for the past three years, and recently became a Certified Postpartum Doula as well. I was called to this work because I believe that birth is a sacred transition, and that every family deserves to feel seen, supported, and cared for during this life-changing experience. I offer guidance rooted in calm presence, evidence-based support, and a nurturing heart, meeting families where they are with compassion and understanding. Becoming certified in postpartum care allowed me to extend that support into the early days of parenting, when rest, reassurance, and gentle help are needed most. My approach is peaceful, patient, and grounded in honoring both the birthing person and the new life entering the world. I am grateful each time a family welcomes me into their space and trusts me to walk alongside them. This work is more than a role—it is a calling, and I am committed to making the journey into parenthood feel held, supported, and deeply respected.

Birth & Postpartum Doula services

At The Gentle Journey Doula Co., I provide supportive care designed to nurture families through pregnancy, birth, and the early postpartum period. As a birth doula, I offer emotional support, physical comfort techniques, and evidence-based guidance to help you feel confident and empowered throughout labor and delivery. My role is to create a calming presence, help you navigate your options, and ensure you feel supported every step of the way. I also offer overnight care for families who need extra rest and reassurance, providing newborn care, feeding support, and a peaceful environment so parents can recover, sleep, and settle into their new rhythm. My postpartum services focus on creating a gentle, supportive transition into life with a new baby. I assist with newborn care, emotional support, feeding guidance, light household tasks, and helping parents build confidence in their own instincts. In addition, I offer postpartum meals and nutrition support, preparing nourishing foods that promote healing, balance, and energy during recovery. Whether you need hands-on help, restful overnight support, or nourishing meals, my goal is to bring comfort, ease, and peace to your journey into parenthood.
