I’m especially interested in someone who can help with postpartum recovery, including gentle tummy massages, postpartum belly care, and overall healing. I’m still comparing options and would like to understand what is included in each doula’s package before setting a firm budget. I’m looking for a good balance of experience, support, and cost. Describe your birth plan:
I’m planning a low-intervention, physiological hospital birth. I would like to labor without an epidural if possible and remain mobile during labor, using movement, different positions, breathing, massage, and other non-medication comfort measures. I would like to avoid unnecessary interventions while remaining open to medical intervention if it becomes necessary for me or the baby. In a doula, I’m especially looking for someone experienced with hospital births who strongly supports informed consent and patient autonomy, can help me communicate and advocate for my preferences without creating an adversarial relationship with the medical team, and is comfortable providing hands-on support throughout labor. I’m Catholic, so I would also appreciate someone who is comfortable with prayer or faith being part of the birth environment, although the doula does not need to share my faith.
