Hi Nathalie, Our little girl has been having some issues at the breast since the day she was born on July 21st. She either is a) too comfortable that she falls asleep or b) too irritated that she won’t take. The great thing is her mom is producing a great amount of colostrum and her milk has started coming in. We just came home from the hospital for the first time on July 24th evening and had a rough night with our daughter crying and unwilling to feed. At the hospital, she did lose 12% of her body weight which caused us to stay an extra night and monitor her feeding. We had to top up her feeds with formula as well as pumped colostrum/milk but my wife would love to exclusively breastfeed and bottle feed later with beast milk. I don't have too many preferences for the provider, but it would be nice if they had experienced labour so they can guide me. I am working with Strathcona Midwifery Collective for my prenatal care. I am planning on a low-intervention vaginal birth, if possible. I am particularly interested in birth prep and support throughout the birth process. I interested in exploring the tub birth options at the hospital. I am also interested in assistance/coaching with breastfeeding and learning more about lactation consulting, in case I need these services once my baby is born. Thanks!

We're looking for overnight newborn care for our daughter, who was born in early June 2026 at 27 weeks. She's currently in the NICU and doing well, and we expect her home around mid-August; the exact date depends on her discharge, so we need a caregiver who can work with a flexible start window rather than a fixed date. Our most important requirement is real experience with premature babies or NICU graduates, ideally babies born before 30 weeks. We're also looking for someone who stays awake for the entire shift, keeps a simple written log of feeds and diapers overnight, holds current infant CPR certification, and can provide references from other newborn or preemie families. We anticipate needing 2 to 5 nights per week for roughly 4 to 8 weeks, with 10 to 12 hour shifts, front-loaded heavier in the first two weeks home. Help with meal prep or a load of baby laundry while she sleeps would be a welcome bonus, but baby care always comes first. We live in East Vancouver near Trout Lake. Our budget is $35 to $45 per hour depending on experience, and we're willing to go higher for someone with substantial NICU or preemie experience.

HI, my husband and I are planning to deliver at BR Women's Hospital. The expected due date is Dec 24th. We live in Burnaby, close to Metrotown. Our budget is somewhat flexible but preferably within 1000-1500. We do not yet have a birth plan. That's something we hope the doula would help us with since we are both first time parents and don't really have a ton of knowledge on the whole birthing thing. We are hoping to work with someone who can prepare the both of us for what's to come - share knowledge, skills, answer questions and support.

Hi! Im looking for an overnight nanny asap, starting in August until mid/late October. Im looking for 4-5 overnight shifts per week. My son named Connor was born at full term (39 plus 1) on April 4th. Around mother's day, he started to show signs of respiratory issues and he was admitted to childrens hospital on May 24th. He was diagnosed with laryngomalacia and that affected his breathing and feeding. He underwent through surgery to remove excess tissue in his larynx. He was in PICU from May 24th to June 12th. Then, he was transferred to the ward and was discharged on June 29th. He has made significant improvements and can drink high volumes of milk. Hello, I'm actually the best friend to the mom. My name is Danielle & I live in Edmonton. My best friend, Christina, lives in Port Moody. She doesn't have any partner support and needs post-partum help so she can do her basic tasks of daily living i.e. sleep. She would also I'm sure appreciate any help with household tasks as well. To answer some of your other questions, Christina only speaks English so English and I am not sure if she has a minimum for years of experience, Christina is a first time mom, and doing so independently, as such a doula with experience I think would be really helpful. I'm not sure of the budget estimate, because to be honest, I have no idea the price of doula services.
