About me

Hi, I’m Liz Derry Cox, CPM, LM. I’ve been a nurse since 1997 and a licensed midwife and DONA trained doula since 2010, and it has been one of the greatest privileges of my life to walk alongside women and families during pregnancy, birth, and the early postpartum period. I believe pregnancy and birth are normal, healthy life events, and that women deserve care that is both evidence-based and deeply personal. Every family has a unique story, and I strive to make sure each client feels heard, respected, informed, and supported every step of the way. My approach combines the wisdom of midwifery with years of clinical experience. I take time to truly listen, answer questions thoroughly, and help families make informed decisions that align with their values. Whether you’re planning your first baby or have given birth before, my goal is to provide compassionate, individualized care that builds confidence rather than fear. I believe that when women are supported physically, emotionally, and educationally, they are more likely to experience a healthier pregnancy, a positive birth, and a smoother transition into parenthood. It is an honor to be trusted with such an important season of life, and I look forward to supporting your family on that journey. I intentionally limit the total number of families I serve each month across all of my services—including midwifery, doula support, and pregnancy coaching. This allows me to provide unhurried, relationship-based care, be readily available when questions arise, and truly get to know each family I have the privilege of serving. My goal is for you to never feel like just another client, but to feel known, supported, and genuinely cared for throughout your journey.

Comprehensive Home Birth Midwifery Care
Experience comprehensive, relationship-based midwifery care from pregnancy through 12 weeks postpartum—all from the comfort of your own home. Unlike a traditional medical practice, all of your prenatal visits take place in your home, allowing for relaxed, unhurried appointments with plenty of time for education, questions, and personalized care. If you choose me as your primary maternity care provider, there is generally no need for routine prenatal visits with an OB or physician unless a medical concern arises that requires consultation or co-management. Your care includes: * Comprehensive prenatal care in your home * Home birth attendance * Routine prenatal lab work (included) * Ordering and review of recommended ultrasounds * Postpartum care for both mother and baby through 12 weeks * Newborn assessments and care * Breastfeeding support * 24/7 on-call availability for your birth * Direct access to my personal cell phone throughout your pregnancy With nearly 30 years of nursing experience, over 15 years as a Registered Midwife, and more than 500 births attended, I provide evidence-based, individualized care while honoring the normal physiology of pregnancy and birth. I intentionally keep my practice small and limit the total number of families I serve each month across all of my services. This allows me to provide exceptional availability, unhurried appointments, and the personalized, relationship-based care every family deserves. My Approach My Christian faith is an important part of who I am and has shaped the way I care for women and families—with compassion, respect, honesty, and a deep belief in the value of every mother and baby. I joyfully care for families from all backgrounds, beliefs, and walks of life. Whether your faith is central to your pregnancy journey, you’re exploring your spirituality, or you don’t consider yourself religious at all, my commitment is the same: to provide personalized, evidence-based care that honors your values, respects your choices, and helps you feel safe, informed, and deeply supported every step of the way.

I cannot recommend Liz highly enough. She was my midwife through two births, and I am so grateful for the exceptional care she provided throughout both pregnancies, deliveries, and postpartum recovery. From the very beginning, she was compassionate, knowledgeable, and incredibly supportive. She always took the time to answer every question, encouraged me when I needed it most, and made me feel truly cared for every step of the way. Living where we do, Liz was the only midwife available, I truly believe God placed her in our path. The fact that she is a Christian made it even more evident to me that He was guiding our family to exactly the person we needed. As a Christian midwife, Liz's faith was such a blessing to our family. She provided not only exceptional medical care but also spiritual encouragement, compassion, and peace during two of the most important experiences of our lives. Her kindness, integrity, and genuine heart for serving others were evident in every interaction. I am so thankful for Liz and the incredible care she gave our family. I would wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone looking for a skilled, compassionate, faith-centered midwife. She made both of my birth experiences so positive, and I will always be grateful for the lasting impact she had on our family.

We have had the honor of working with Liz through two home water births. She is extremely knowledgeable and her calm manner, even in stressful situations, is highly admirable and appreciated. I would trust her time and time again to deliver our babies. She is the absolute best!!!

Liz is not only knowledgeable and trustworthy, she shows compassion and truly cares for the women she serves. On the rare occasion she doesn't have an answer to an issue or question, she will find the answer. Im no longer having babies, but I consider her a friend and mentor. 💜

Liz was the most amazing midwife! Having five children one set of twins and being a military family (moving a lot) so having to have a different Midwife with each Birth… Liz was by far my favorite midwife and my best birth experience! She was supportive and helped me through some Anemia so I could have my home birth! She coached my through life challenges and she made me feel comfortable and safe during the birth process!
