Hello my name is Samantha and I am a queer doula looking to support queer and BIPOC families in the Sacramento area. I’ve been a nanny for over a decade and decided to make the switch to birth work at the beginning of 2024. I started my training in March and have been working solely in postpartum but plan to also offer fertility and birth support in the near future. Looking forward to connecting and bringing you support!

Samantha provided exceptional postpartum care for our family! As first-time parents, we greatly valued her knowledgable support with bathing, feeding, and all aspects of newborn care. Her calming presence instilled confidence in both her and ourselves.

After becoming a mother, I was inspired to become a doula and help other families have a positive experience. My philosophy on birth is rooted in the belief that every family deserves personalized care and support throughout the journey to parenthood. I believe in empowering parents to make informed decisions about their pregnancy and birth, and I strive to create a safe, nurturing environment for them to do so. As a doula, I offer a range of services to support expectant parents, including prenatal education, labor support, postpartum care, and breastfeeding support. I have experience working with a variety of different parenting preferences and situations. My approach to working with clients is one of compassion, openness, and collaboration. I prioritize effective communication and am committed to being available to answer any questions or concerns that may arise. I also believe in working closely with other members of the healthcare team to ensure that my clients receive the best possible care. Thank you for considering me as your doula. We thoroughly enjoyed working with Hailey. She was an incredible doula—supportive, knowledgeable, and genuinely thoughtful every step of the way. Hailey took the time to walk us through every possible scenario and made sure we felt prepared and confident. In the hospital, she worked seamlessly alongside our care team and advocated for us with such calm, steady presence. We truly couldn’t have done it without her. We are so grateful for her guidance and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a compassionate and skilled doula.

I spent the first six years of my career working in early childhood education. First working in a daycare, then moving onto preschool, and later working as a nanny. My time in early childhood gave me a great appreciation of mothers, children, and families. I found it incredibly rewarding to be welcomed into someone’s home and life to care for their most precious possession. As I worked in early childhood I simultaneously took certifications in my other passion, fitness. I began to learn about anatomy and how different perinatal bodies are to women who have not given birth. One of my trainings stated that 80% of women will be pregnant (and eventually postpartum) at some point in their lives. This special consideration stuck with me. It wasn’t until my husband and I decided to try for children that I fully understood the wonder of fertility, pregnancy, and birth. I became obsessed with devouring all the information I could on these topics and finally stumbled upon Ina May’s guide to childbirth. This book completely changed how I viewed birth and melted my fears of childbirth away. However, by the time I became pregnant navigating the often confusing OB and even midwifery world left me feeling dizzy. The entire process left me feeling disempowered and I knew I couldn’t go into giving birth from this space. This pushed me to train to be a birth doula to ensure I would have a positive pregnancy and birth experience. The training helped me to understand physiological birth, navigating the medical world, and what I wanted even in the event of an unplanned obstacle. I finally felt confident I could handle whatever labor could throw at me. My passion for birth was born out of necessity and I plan to use that same level of devotion to help other women. I truly believe my unique skill set and experiences have lead me to the field of birth work. I created Fit to Birth to combine all my knowledge and passions. I hope to provide resources, education, and support to pregnant women in Sacramento and beyond.

I had a Doula and Lactation Consultant at Maternal Wellness and I had such an amazing birth experience in 2024 the information was clear, I could communicate easily with my doula by text, call and through a online system that they used. It was great! I had a good birth and got great tips and support for my first pregnancy. If you want a doula or need breastfeeding help I think you would love it!

Diane was my Doula, and she was simply fab!! I had a very difficult pregnancy with various things, extreme nausea, stressful situations, emotional ups and downs with hormones etc, and Diane was understanding and soothing and helped me to approach my baby’s birth in a calmer way, however it happened. She held my hand and supported me during a very painful external cephalic version, I was screaming but her being there helped so much! And the day after I was a wreck but she made sure to check in and was very caring. I lost my mum a few years ago and although Diane was in a doula role she was also like my family, like a mum, as soon as I met her, she was exactly what I needed and she just seemed to instinctively know what she needed to do to help. Thanks so much Diane! I hope we will always stay in touch! Lots of love, Carrie, Michael and Matt xxxxxx

Hi, I'm a certified postpartum night dolus since 2021. I'm a mother of a set of twins, one girl & boy. While caring for my two infants I gained so much experience. From colic, preemie stage and the dreadful silent reflux as well as toggling tandem feeding and all fun stuff, I found my passion for the infant stage. Since then, I've been working with families guiding them through the most precious few months home with their growing family and looking to help more Parents in the Northern California area. I specialize in overnight care so new parents can rest, allowing them to be more present during the day. Resting, recovering and waking up knowing your baby was in experienced, nurturing hands. Teaching new parents all the tips and secret tricks to set your newborn up for a solid nighttime routine. I enjoy helping families establish a soiled night schedule, making the days enjoyable and memorable.

After retiring from a long career of working with children and families, I became a professional doula. I wanted to support and nurture birthing persons during this sacred time of their lives. I wanted to offer sacred holistic services to them, youth, and communities by partnering with them as they learn more about holistic reproductive wellness. I also wanted to educate them about the importance of preventive reproductive health care, maternal health justice, trauma-informed quality childcare, equity and advocacy, childbirth education and basic lactation support through coaching, training, and mentoring not only birthing persons but the community and new doulas. So, I immersed and dedicated myself to learning all that I could about how to support in this way. I am the mother of two amazing adult sons and oftentimes reflect on my birthing experiences. They were both very different births but what helped me survive was the birthing team I chose and the village around me when I returned home and encourage those, I serve to embrace their community and build their village. I am also a Childbirth Educator, an author, singer/songwriter, a Master of Ceremony and a speaker. I am a birth justice advocate that believes birth work is justice work and there is no way to separate one from the other!
