My name is Maggie Mau, and I am a mom of two girls and two very sweet rescue pups, Hopper and Eleven. My partner is a longtime teacher for Saint Paul Public Schools and we have lived in the South Como neighborhood in Saint Paul for the last 15 years! As a family we enjoy camping, hiking and exploring our country’s beautiful national parks. It is not odd to find us hammocking up at Como park, picking mulberries and reading :) I enjoy running, gardening, reading and baking and hosting regular gatherings of family and friends. I have been in the Twin Cities nonprofit sector my whole career, and the passion that I feel for the success of individuals and families in our community is now being carried forward in a different, but equally important way – through the support and empowerment of families as they navigate their birth journeys. I believe in leading with empathy and deep listening, in order to best support families to create their own powerful birth experiences. I feel humbled and honored to be able to share space and offer support to you - the amazing parents and parents to be!

I currently offer birth doula and lactation counseling services.
Choosing a doula was an unknown for us, but from the moment we started our interview process with Maggie, we were immediately put at ease. Her calm demeanor and personable attitude were exactly the kind of energy we knew we would need during such a stressful and transformative time. She spent almost an hour actively listening to our needs and wants during our initial consultation, which spoke volumes about her dedication. While it would take a book to summarize our entire prenatal, delivery, and postpartum journey, Maggie was there by phone every step of the way, and was an absolute joy and kind soul to have in the pre-delivery and delivery rooms. While people certainly welcome babies without a doula, having an individual like Maggie by our side during what was the hardest thing we've ever experienced made us feel like everything would be okay. We would recommend Maggie for doula services in a heartbeat.

Maggie is AMAZING! We could not have asked for a better doula. She was kind, supportive, extremely knowledgeable, responsive, non-judgemental and overall incredible. She meet with us 4 time before delivery and even attended our version to flip baby out of breech. During those sessions she shared so many helpful resources and made sure to spend time listening to our needs/go over our birth plan. Maggie was really flexible and reassuring when plans changed. When it was looking like our birth may be a c-section due to a breech baby, she was ready to switch gears to help us create an alternative plan. Luckily the version was success so she then quickly worked with us to prepare my body for a vaginal delivery. She also baked us delicious date cookies and snickers! During labor, Maggie came over to our house to help us prolong home labor as much as possible which was great because I arrived at the hospital well into active labor instead of being turned away. She helped me find multiple positions and gave me a labor comb to help me get through contractions. During labor at the hospital, Maggie was so lovely and tried many methods to keep to our original plan of an unmedicated birth, but when the pain was too much she was totally on board with me getting the medical assistance I needed. She worked really well with the nurses to get me in different positions to keep labor moving along. She stayed up all night with us and all the way to pushing and baby's first skin to skin. In post partum, she met with us 3 days later to discuss and process the birth, as well provide lactation cookies and soup. She also has been available for some of our panicked texts asking if something was normal. We will meet again one more time post-partum which I look forward to! Overall we are incredible grateful and feel so lucky that Maggie was part of our birth story welcoming our baby boy into the world. If we have more children in the future, I will 1000% reach out to her for doula services again. Thank you so much Maggie!

Maggie was amazing! I am a first time mom, and found the wealth of information regarding raising a newborn to be overwhelming. That being said, it was such a huge help to have Maggie to answer our questions! She had so much knowledge to share, backed by google documents, personal experience, and book resources that she leant us. She visited our home as much as needed and baked delicious treats before and after the birth. I had a very unexpected precipitous labor, and it was so worth it to have Maggie there to advocate for my needs and of course steal me ice chips :) She was also very comforting when my birth ended up resulting in a frightening C-section experience due to baby's position after 5 hours of pushing. She helped relax and encourage me when my medical team wasn't really saying much at all. I loved her vibe, wealth of knowledge, and ability to put us at ease. We wouldn't hesitate to hire her again, and I'm definitely recommending her to my friends!

Maggie was truly everything we had hoped for in a doula. Our initial meeting with her put us instantly at ease, and her authenticity and care was evident in every interaction that followed. Maggie affirmed the difficulties of my pregnancy, and helped me and my partner to feel grounded going into labor. She showed up immediately when an induction became necessary, and was capable, nurturing, decisive, and receptive during my labor. She was quietly and steadfastly encouraging and allowed me to stay in the groove of my desired labor. She supported my partner in finding necessary moments for his own needs, and stepped in seamlessly in his absence. When post-birth complications arose, Maggie was the one we wanted to process with, and she brought us even more delicious partpartum food to make sure we were cared for. I will recommend Maggie to anyone and everyone I know that is entering the wild world of birth, and if there's another pregnancy in my future, we will absolutely want Maggie as our doula again.

Maggie is the best! She’s a wonderful, down-to-earth, caring human being, and we connected with her from our first meeting. As first-time parents, we were overwhelmed with the volume of potential information we didn’t know, and working with Maggie was immediately relieving – we were in great hands. She brought warmth, steadiness, and a wealth of knowledge to every visit we’ve had pre- and post-birth and during labor. She met us with the energy we needed at each stage, including a great sense of humor when we needed to lighten the mood during labor. She truly goes above and beyond to make sure her clients are cared for. We had to have an unexpected surgery five weeks postpartum, and she made us a meal and came by to see how we were and connect. We’re so grateful to have met Maggie and had her as a doula, and we can’t imagine the last few months any other way! We highly recommend working with her if you have the chance.

Our experience with Maggie has been nothing but exceptional from the moment we did our meet and greet. She has such a warm, welcoming, calming, and salt of the earth vibe that is so comforting and supportive. Maggie listened to what we had to say and always incorporated it into our meetings making us feel heard and validated. Maggie was full of information that was tailored to our needs as well as additional peripheral knowledge if it so benefited us. She always came to our meetings well prepared with a plan though allowed us to set the pace and fulfill our needs/questions without pushing us to meet her agenda. Maggie came with zero judgement and did a great job at giving us risks and benefits when we were questioning some of our choices. By the time it came to labor and delivery Maggie felt like family making our birth experience that much more meaningful. Maggie stayed with us for 20 hours straight, always with a smile and comforting words, and never wavered in her support and encouragement. She is a huge ingredient in how we achieved our VBAC with her advocacy and ability to empower us in a multitude of ways. We will forever be grateful that Maggie was a part of our birth story! It is such a blessing to have her in our sons baby book as she will forever be cherished in our hearts and mind. We love Maggie and hope to keep her in our lives for years to come! Gold star doula and beyond!

Maggie is the best! Loved her vibe from our first virtual meeting when deciding on a doula. She has so much knowledge to share and really helped us feel prepared during pregnancy and prior to labor. She was constantly checking in and providing us with amazing resources. She was so great during labor and it made me feel secure to have a familiar face in the delivery room. Would recommend Maggie to anyone!

Maggie was an integral part of my birth team and we are so thankful for her support through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. She was calming, patient, proactive, and always available to answer questions and give valuable input. We felt seen, cared for and surrounded by support. She went above and beyond in supporting us and making sure that I was feeling my best in pregnancy and in breastfeeding, even checking on me several weeks postpartum. She would be an incredible addition to your birth team!

I cannot recommend Maggie highly enough! From the moment we met her, my partner and I felt an immediate sense of calm and confidence in her abilities. Her warmth, professionalism, and deep knowledge of childbirth made her an invaluable part of our birthing journey. Throughout my pregnancy, Maggie was incredibly supportive, always available to answer questions, provide resources, and offer reassurance. She took the time to understand our birth preferences and helped us create a detailed birth plan, ensuring we felt empowered and informed every step of the way. She provided a real education for us in the weeks leading up to our birth. During a long and difficult labor, Maggie was a lighthouse in a stormy sea. Her calming presence and expert guidance helped me navigate each stage of labor with confidence. Her ability to read the room and adapt to the situation was remarkable—she knew exactly when to step in with encouragement and when to give us space. What truly sets Maggie apart is her genuine care and compassion. She treated us like family, and her emotional support was just as important as her physical assistance. She also provided incredible support to my partner, guiding him on how to best help me. After the birth, Maggie made sure to check in on us, offering postpartum advice and guidance about how to get expert lactation support. Her dedication to our well-being didn’t end when the baby arrived, and we are so grateful for her ongoing support. If you’re looking for a doula who is knowledgeable, compassionate, and truly dedicated to making your birth experience positive, look no further. She is a gem, and we feel so lucky to have had her by our side during this life-changing journey. Thank you Maggie, for everything!

Maggie served as our back-up doula for the birth of my wife and mine's first child. As our birth plans were changing and we were not getting what we planned or hoped for, our original doula was unavailable to help us. Maggie stepped in and became SO much more than a back-up or extra help. Her skills, proficiency and adaptability to turn an unideal birthing situation into a special and sacred birthing experience were unparalleled. Just as essential was her constant presence, listening ear and advocacy when we needed it. I highly recommend Maggie to anyone looking for a friendly, warm and extremely knowledgable birth advocate and doula.
