I have Humana Healthy Horizons (Medicaid), which covers doula services: 5 Prenatal visits; 1 Birth coaching assistance during vaginal delivery; 3 Postpartum visits. This is my first birth, and I want to try to vaginal birth with medication to manage my pain. Even though I will have an epidural, I want to have a doula to advocate for different birthing positions, delayed cord clamping, and more.

I plan to have a home birth, but if I have to, then I will do it in the hospital Or birth center, but I still would prefer a midwife. As far as my budget that is unclear at the moment, as I am still researching the prices and cost for everything. My Birth Plan Labor & Environment Preferences • I prefer a natural birth with no medical interventions or pain medications. • The lights should be dimmed, and I want minimal interruptions to maintain a calm environment. • Soft music may be played but kept at a low volume. • I want my best friend and the baby’s father present for support. • I plan to remain active during labor, using walking and a birthing ball to aid progression. Delivery Preferences • I prefer to deliver in a squatting position or lying down, depending on what feels most natural and effective at the time. • I do not want the umbilical cord to be cut immediately. Instead, I choose a lotus birth, allowing the placenta and umbilical cord to remain attached until they naturally detach. This plan reflects my ideal birth experience, and I appreciate my healthcare team’s support in respecting my choices while ensuring the safety of both my baby and me.

I am a type one diabetic and would love to have a doula that can coach me through the birth process. I don’t want to be confined to my hospital bed. I would love to learn hypnotic birthing and deep breathing to properly push. I am a nurse and if I didn’t have diabetes I would have preferred to give birth at home. I don’t want it to feel like I’m at work. More like a calm environment to bring our son into. Birth date is August 25th, however I am going to be induced anywhere between 38-39 weeks.
