About me

My name is McKenna; I am a birth and postpartum doula. I became a doula in 2023 after the birth of my second child. As too many experience, my birth with my first was not what I had envisioned it to be. This lead me down the path of how disconnected birth has become. After my second child, I started my doula education and set on a path to help families feel supported and educated no matter the circumstance. As a doula, helping mom & baby of course is the main focus, but supporting the partner and/or the whole family unit is another major aspect of my practice as well. Partners are a vital role in the birth, and I focus on this connection between the two. I recognize that giving birth and the postpartum period is more than a medical experience, it is a key life experience and one that will be remembered all your life. This is something I take very seriously and feel very honored to be involved in such a sacred, special life event of yours. Discussing your birth and postpartum goals, concerns and questions help me to understand what is most important to you and allows me to customize your care. As your Doula, I will do my best to educate and support you in the way that you find most beneficial. Like I stated above, this is a major life experience, and I am honored to be a part of it! I look forward to meeting with you, discussing all your birth and postpartum goals and being a part of this transformative time in your life!

Kenna was apart of my birth dream team and I can't imagine doing it again without her! As a first time mom, having someone by my side who was calm and experienced during the entire labor and delivery process was so reassuring. Not only did she help me stay comfortable but more importantly she made a huge impact on my mind set. She answered my questions, coached me on breathing, and encouraged me when I needed it. I had a beautiful birthing experience and Kenna definitely helped to make it happen. 🤰🤱

Having McKenna with me throughout my pregnancy was wonderful and I highly recommend her. At first I wasn't sure I would need help through much, but I was pregnant with my first child and discovered how little I really knew. Kenna helped my husband and I prepare for giving birth with knowledge of the process of your body physically giving birth but also the mental and emotional process you go through. She met with my husband and I a few times before we gave birth, was there for us through the whole birthing process, and would help be with me a few different times afterwards. Kenna made sure that she did everything she could to help ensure we were taken care of and had a good experience. For all that she did for us, we are extremely thankful!

Our experience was an absolute dream! Kenna being our Doula was one of the best decisions we could have ever made. She was SO helpful throughout my entire pregnancy, labor and delivery, and postpartum. Her birthing class was so educating (my husband even remembered parts that I couldn't!). I had been debating on switching my prenatal care & she supported me in every way. I had even attended a breastfeeding support group/class when pregnant & she came with me!! When it came to be baby time, we were in touch from the minute we got to the hospital - we had an induction and with me having a baby already, we were confident on not needing her there right away & as soon as I told her I was ready for her to come to the hospital, she was there instantly! Right away she jumped into Doula mode as she assisted me with laboring techniques. She helped to not only support me, but also my husband and helped guide him through ways to help better support me. She helped latch our baby right away & stayed for as long as I wanted after delivery. During postpartum she answered any question I had (even if it was a stupis question). She also came by for a postpartum visit and it was so nice to have her come over and help us. Every part of our experience the second time around was so much better than the first and hiring Kenna was such a huge role in that! If you're debating on choosing Kenna for your big journey to becoming a parent - do it! I always recommend Kenna to any expecting parent 🤗

Kenna has been absolutely amazing!! From before birth with the classes she teaches, and answering all of our questions. To being in the birth room with us, walking us through every step of what was going on and why!! She was so supportive and comforting throughout all of it!!! 1000/10 recommend for anyone! Whether it's your first baby or your 4th!! She is hands down the best!!

When I started my pregnancy, I never would have thought I would be using a doula. The idea was brought up by my provider and I searched for local doulas. My first meeting with Kenna I just felt her passion and love for this career she was building. Myself as a labor delivery nurse at the time, knew that support was really important during labor. Many times during patient labors I always felt bad when I couldn't be at the bedside the entire time. Kenna was very easy to get along with and talk to. I was in labor for two days with a medical induction. I ended up asking her to come the evening of the first day. She came and stayed with us till the end. Her support for me and my husband was wonderful! My husband was able to support me and be my husband, while kenna helped be that sounding board and also help with constant position changes! My boy was stubborn! I will forever cherish her presence during my labor and delivery! Her calm presence was exactly what I needed. Bonus for many delivery pictures to cherish for a life time! Also loved the postpartum visits! I looked forward to the support she brought during that fresh postpartum! I would highly recommend a doula for your delivery whether it's your first or last! My husband even told me afterwards he was so glad Kenna was there!

Kenna was recommended to me by the instructor of my birthing class. When we met, she immediately put my husband and me at ease. It was really important to us that my husband be my main "person" during my birth, but as this was our first child, we also wanted someone there who could prompt us with ideas for relaxation and pain management. It very much felt like hy husband was there to support me, and McKenna was there to support him (and me as well, of course!) I am one of those people who wants to know as much as possible about a thing, so I very much appreciated McKenna's pre-birth discussion of what a doula can and cannot do, and how the birthing process typically proceeds. Kenna was also very thorough and thoughtful in understanding our birth plan, and it was clear that she would be a great addition in the room. I wanted to see how much I could do with only nitrous and breathing exercises/meditation - I didn't want to be offered an epidural, but it wasn't off the table either. It was clear at one point that I was ready for an epidural, and Kenna was so great at bringing it up - almost reminding me it was an option without pushing one way or the other. With her and my husband in the room, I felt fully empowered to make decisions for myself and my baby. McKenna was also a godsend during postpartum. In those first several days after birth, when my milk came in and I felt terrible, it was so reassuring to have someone just a text away (and so responsive!) to be able to ask, is this normal? What should I do about that? She definitely saved me a trip to the doctor (though she also knows her limits when it comes to medical advice!!) Pro tip: get ice packs ready for your breasts, ladies. All in all, I cannot recommend McKenna enough - if I ever have a second child, I'll absolutely be reaching out to her again!
