We are looking for a natural birth in a hospital setting. Military family. First time parents.

Giving birth at NY Pres Hudson Valley Hospital in Cortlandt Manor NY. Estimated budget $1,800. Birth plan: epidural vaginal birth. I would strongly prefer a Black woman doula with at least two years of experience. I am 33, this is my first baby, and I am not high risk. I plan to primarily breast feed and pump. I am looking for a doula to support in preparing for birth, labor and delivery, and post partum. I have Aetna insurance, POS.

I just need someone to help with holding our reflux baby at night so we can get some sleep.

I wanted to reach out because I’m thinking about trying to breastfeed again and I’d really love your guidance. I breastfed/pumped for about the first 5–6 weeks after he was born. He latched for the last week, but at the time everything was just really overwhelming because I was home by myself, he was having a lot of feeding issues, and we eventually found out he has a cow’s milk protein allergy. I was exhausted and stopped breastfeeding/pumping completely. He’s now 3½ months old, so I’ve been stopped for about two months. Today I started trying to latch him again, but obviously I’m basically dry right now. I really want to see if I can relactate and build my supply back up over the next 2–3 weeks. He’s had quite a bit going on since birth. He’s had pretty severe reflux, vomiting/spitting up, gas and feeding difficulties, and we’ve had concerns about his weight gain. He’s been seeing GI and has had an X-ray/upper GI-type imaging and a sonogram because of the vomiting. He also has cow’s milk protein allergy and has needed hypoallergenic/amino-acid formula. He also developed torticollis/head preference, so he’s doing PT, and there have been some concerns about his head/fontanelle, so he’s also been evaluated by neurosurgery. It’s just been a lot between all of the appointments and trying to figure out his feeding and weight. Now that he’s a little older, I really want to give breastfeeding another try if it’s possible. I’m not expecting to immediately have a full supply, but I’d love help figuring out the best way to stimulate my supply again, get him comfortable latching, and safely transition to breast milk while still making sure he’s getting enough to eat and keeping his reflux/allergy under control. Do you have experience helping with relactation after someone has been completely stopped for a couple of months? I’d really appreciate your guidance on how to approach it. ❤️

Hi! I was producing plenty to feed my baby at first, now only 2 weeks in I’m producing less than half of what he needs. I’m pumping or breastfeeding every 3 hours, drinking over 80oz of water, have a high protein diet, and am taking 1 packet of liquid iv every day. I don’t understand why my supply isn’t there anymore. Help!!

I’m due with my second baby on 10/22. I’m delivering at Greenwich Hospital, and working with midwives from Northeast Medical Group in Stamford. My goal is an unmedicated birth with minimal interventions. My daughter was born in May 2025 in NYC. I went into labor at 39 weeks. I had a doula and made it to 6cm unmedicated, and opted for the epidural as I had been awake for over 24 hours and needed rest. Things progressed quickly from there and I had an uncomplicated vaginal birth. This time I’m hoping for a faster labor and to not need the epidural. I breastfed my daughter for 11 months and would have liked to go longer if I hadn’t been pregnant. The beginning was very challenging because of flat nipples. I primarily pumped until she started latching at 6 weeks, and things were relatively smooth from there. I’m hoping for an easier start to breastfeeding this time. I am a stay at home mom so hope to breastfeed for at least a year with minimal pumping. I know I will need early lactation support to achieve this. I’m looking to spend less than $2500 for a birth doula, and hope insurance will cover some. I’m looking for someone who will be very hands on in labor, and help me to labor at home as long as possible.

Baby is struggling with latch and it is becoming painful for me to breast feed.

My main question is whether his decreasing formula requirement reflects improved milk transfer from me. He had a 14–15% initial weight loss, but since supplementation began he has gained from 7 lb 4 oz on Aug 24 → 7 lb 10 oz Aug 27 → about 8 lb 1 oz on my home scale Sept 1. He is now frequently refusing or taking very small top-ups after breastfeeding. I want a weighted feed and a safe plan for tapering supplementation while protecting his weight gain and increasing my supply.
