My name is Jasmine, but many know me as Jas the Doula. I am a mama of two and I have a passion for women's health. In my spare time I am heavily involved in the community spreading awareness on the benefits of doulas and advocating for high quality care. I have spent nearly 6 years of my career case managing pregnant and postpartum women and providing ongoing education, resources, and encouragement through a prominent health plan in the Tidewater region. Additionally, I am a state-certified doula accepting Medicaid insurance and out-of-pocket payment plans. I have obtained my doula certification through Birth in Color RVA, a bachelor's degree in health services management from Norfolk State University and a masters degree in healthcare delivery science from Eastern Virginia Medical School. My focus is on prenatal, labor & delivery, postpartum and pregnancy loss support. As your doula, I will work with you to release any present fears, anxieties or previous birth traumas, help you plan and find the resources and providers for your ideal birth, help you create a birth plan to communicate your needs to providers, provide education on comfort measures, birthing positions and pain relief options for labor and birth, as well as assist with initiating breastfeeding within the first hour postpartum. I will remain connected with you up to two months postpartum, providing a total of four in-home visits to assist with newborn care, education and safety. I am a local to Virginia Beach, and although I plan to stay here long term, my heart also has a home in Hawaii where I spent a few years in my twenties. I love to adventure, design, have community and learn new things! I spend 100% of the time being a mother to two absolutely, wildly amazing children, and being a wife to my long-time sweet heart. I have had beautiful home births with both my children and I would love to have more children! My dream is grow a business that not only supports my family, but over all, supports woman and families all of the world so that we as mothers and as families feel the most confident and empowered that we have ever felt as a community, so that we raise generations of parents and children to be self-sufficient, self-thinkers and rooted in love.

I know firsthand how invaluable doula support is. As an RN, I thought I was well-prepared for childbirth. At the urging of my midwife, I sought doula support for the birth of my 1st baby. My doula’s physical & emotional presence during a long labor & strenuous delivery was crucial, & I left the experience convinced that a doula should be present at every birth. Soon my friends began to come to me for birthing support, & I attended births as a friend & advocate. I fell in love with birth work & completed doula training with ToLabor in April 2020. I help my clients navigate their options to make informed decisions that work well for their family & their goals. I want to make sure you are seen & heard.
