I am a 40 year old, pregnant for the first time. Other than my “advanced age” I’m otherwise very healthy. Normal BMI, active, no preconditions. I would like to have a relaxed, minimally medicalized, minimally invasive birth but due to my age, I fear that will be not respected. I am also limited by my insurance to deliver at Yale New Haven Hospital. I would like to have someone who’s an advocate for me, and someone consistent to support me throughout my pregnancy, birth and postpartum. (My current OB doesn’t deliver, which means it’ll happen w whoever is on call). I’m not sure of my budget, as I don’t know what is typical, but I am a postdoc w a fixed income. I will also likely have to take unpaid leave after birth.

I hope to use my insurance to cover most of the expenses. But I am willing to pay some out of pocket expenses. I am newly pregnant so I do not have a birth plan. That is something I would like help figuring out with a provider.
