We are looking for an experienced Newborn Care Specialist (NCS)/night nanny to help care for our newborn son in Jersey City. Our primary need is overnight care, approximately 10 PM–7 AM, initially on an occasional/as-needed basis, with the possibility of more frequent or regular nights if it is a good fit. We may also occasionally want to extend an overnight shift into the morning or daytime. We are also open to discussing 24-hour newborn care if the provider offers 24-hour shifts and the rate makes sense for us. Nighttime coverage is our main priority, but we are flexible for the right NCS. During overnight care, we would like someone who can independently care for the baby so that we can sleep. Responsibilities would include: - Bottle feeding, burping, diaper changes, soothing, and settling him back to sleep - Following safe newborn sleep practices - Preparing formula/bottles as needed and washing/cleaning bottles and feeding supplies - Keeping a simple log of feedings, diapers, and sleep - Baby-related laundry and keeping his bottles, feeding supplies, and nursery/baby areas organized - Bathing the baby and assisting with normal newborn bathing/care - Assisting with post-circumcision care while he is healing, following the aftercare instructions provided to us by our mohel/pediatrician - Helping establish healthy, age-appropriate newborn sleep habits and routines, including day/night differentiation, appropriate wake windows, soothing techniques, and gradually working toward a consistent sleep schedule as developmentally appropriate - Helping with other routine newborn-care needs as they arise We strongly prefer someone with significant hands-on experience caring for very young newborns, especially babies under 1 month old. Current infant CPR/First Aid certification, a background check, and strong references/reviews from families with newborns are very important to us. NCS or postpartum doula certification is a plus. Experience with newborn sleep scheduling and routine development is strongly preferred. We would like someone who can help us establish good sleep habits early and guide us on how to appropriately evolve his routine and schedule as he gets older. We are looking for someone who is reliable, calm, attentive, nurturing, and very comfortable caring for a newborn independently. When responding, please include: - Your experience specifically with newborns under 4 weeks old - NCS/postpartum doula or other relevant certifications - Infant CPR/First Aid status - Overnight availability - Experience helping establish newborn sleep routines/schedules - Whether you offer occasional daytime extensions or 24-hour care - Your hourly rate for overnight and daytime care and, if applicable, your rate for a 24-hour shift - References from recent newborn families
