I’d like to give Birth at home but planned for hospital currently. Not sure what these type of services cost. I was quoted $1800 for a night nurse to come twice a week after baby is born. Potentially looking for a midwife or Doula to help me through the birthing process and to advocate for me if a hospital birth is necessary. I’m a 28 F English speaking.

Hi there, my name is Jenny- may I am a single mama to soon to be 5 children. I’m currently 17 weeks and 5 days pregnant with my 5th baby and moving to the Cobourg area. I have been having the hardest time finding a midwife that has availability to assist me with my planned home birth ( waitlisted everywhere) or not in the catchment. I have spoke with some other doulas and friends and have decided that I’m open to an unassisted home birth if necessary. It had come to my attention that there is a term called Traditional Birth Assistants who are not medical professionals but perhaps have more experience with the birth process. It is my understanding that these Birth assistants are typically found by word of mouth. I was wondering if you had any knowledge of anyone practicing this in the Cobourg or surrounding areas?

Hi Taylor. We are very excited to say we are expecting our first baby August 24th. We live in Cookstown. My in-laws live in Wasaga Beach, and have extra bedrooms to happily support our stay, to be closer, if needed. We are planning to deliver @ Collingwood hospital. We are interested in a birth package. Something that includes some prenatal, labour/birth support. Also would like options for postnatal/postpartum baby care support. Meeting prior to birth, either in person or on zoom would be helpful to make sure we are a good fit. We are open and excited to learn all that you have to shared, to make this a calm, beautiful, peaceful as possible experience for everyone. I would love Support during labor/delivery. Though I will have the support of my other half and my mom holding my hand. I love the idea of having a Doula who has experience with the script, almost like a yoga instructor, to help with guiding through the process, helping with relaxing and all that comes with the beauty of what you do. Help in vbac, second baby Postpartum nights, newborn care for first 6 weeks 4 nights a week

I would like to have labour at home but currently don’t have a midwife. So as of right now I will be having the baby in a hospital. I am looking to have an unmedicated birth but this will be my first time. I need guidance and reassurance. I’m looking for either a doula or midwife, who if possible is able to speak both English and Spanish but is not a requirement. I’m 29 , currently 21 weeks. I have two health concerns such as hypothyroidism (currently medicated) and a high chance of getting preeclampsia (currently on medication for prevention). This is my second pregnancy and my first pregnancy and labour (natural / medicated) went fairly smooth with no complications. My budget for a doula: $2000

Plan to give birth in hospital. There is no certain birth plan. I need someone who can assist me during labor and one week postpartum. I need someone who is experience and gives me proper guidance through the process rather than just following same old traditions.
