I am looking for a certified nurse midwife in Hampton roads Virginia that accepts CHAMP VA health insurance to provide care for a home birth this October

I would like to have a non-medicated water birth in my home. I would Like for the umbellical cord to stay in place for as long as it lives. I plan to use Tricare insurance to pay for a certified nurse midwife on this journey. This is my first birth, but I’m considered high risk given that I’m 44 years old. I have a dear friend who will act as a doula and my husband will be present.

The rush to the hospital is stressful and I am over all the poking and prodding while your in labor so they can get you all hooked up to monitors and ivs. I do not know how much it costs to have a homebirth and midwife and what all having a baby at home entails. I would prefer to have a home birth but not against an hospital birth but it is an hour from us. We have Cigna insurance cover the cost as they will cover 100% for midwives.

Would love to give birth at home. I had a hospital birth for my first when we planned to give birth in a birth center. But were sent to the hospital to be induced because I was 36 hours ruptured.
