My hospital is MUSC is Florence, SC. Looking for someone who accepts First Choice Medicaid. If not, my total budget would only be about $1,000. I plan to do an unmedicated hospital birth with as little interventions as possible.

Because of my age and some health conditions, I plan to give birth in the hospital. My budget would be $500 to $800. I just don’t want to have an episiotomy and no forceps.

I am currently 14 weeks (due May 9th) into my first pregnancy. My husband and I are looking for a doula to assist with an unmedicated birth at Holmes Hospital. I go to HealthFirst and my doctors rotate, so any of the 6 could be there for my birth. I am hoping for a VBAC after a semi-traumatic cesarean experience. I believe my best chances to achieve this would be through help of a doula and a midwife, as the current OB I see pushed for an early induction last time and I can feel that's the direction she's pushing for this second pregnancy. The OB only pushed for induction and brought up cesarean based on baby's projected size. First son was 8lbs 12.5oz at birth; so not small, but certainly not over 10lbs as they had insisted. My current plan is to give birth at Henrico Doctor's Hospital (where I delivered my first), but am open to other options such as a home birth or a birthing center. I would love to try for unmedicated this go around. I am not a high-risk pregnancy, I have a healthy BMI, baby is healthy, no gestational diabetes, no markers for preeclampsia or hypertension, so I believe and feel strongly that I can attempt a VBAC + TOLAC.

My goal is to labor and deliver without pain medication if possible, while still giving birth in a hospital setting for safety. I’m hoping to work with someone who can act as an advocate and steady support person during labor—someone who can help me stay focused on my birth plan, encourage natural coping techniques, and help communicate my preferences with hospital staff if needed.
