Hello! My name is Serena, and I am a labor doula, placenta encapsulator, and postpartum doula! I have 3 dogs and 2 cats, and if I’m not working I'm usually with them watching TV. My all time favorite shows are Doctor Who and New Girl, though I’m sure you’d have a hard time finding a show I haven’t seen! I also enjoy reading, hiking, playing games, and spending time with my family. My first step into the doula world was becoming a Postpartum doula. This felt very natural to me, as I have been working in childcare for what feels like my whole life! I started off babysitting for my siblings and my parent’s friends when I was younger, became a teacher in the infant room of a daycare at 18, and a postpartum doula at 21. I decided to step into this field because I love helping families adjust to having a new little one! Supporting labor and delivery was a natural transition as I began working as a doula and stepping more and more into the birthing world. Labor and delivery is truly one of the most beautiful and fascinating events I’ve had the honor of witnessing, and I knew instantly that this is exactly what I was meant to do. That’s such a hard question to answer! For postpartum work, I’d have to say it’s the moments when something finally clicks into place. There's always some trial and error with each baby since they each have their own preferences and personalities, but I love the moments when you figure out how they like to be burped, the quickest way to get them sleeping, which formula works for them, and everything in between! I know it's not possible for me to fix every problem that arises, but it always such a relief when I can help with one. Adjusting to this new chapter of your life can be such a chaotic time, and I truly believe it takes a village! For birth work, my favorite part is seeing birthing people reach deep inside themselves and finding strength they never knew they had. The absolute relief and joy I can see on their face as they hold their little one in their arms for the first time always brings tears to my eyes.

I'm a mom of 4 & Nana of 1, married to my soulmate for almost 24 years. Proud to be an Air Force veteran, I was Active duty when my first was born. Her birth was eye opening... and the reason I sought out different options for my second birth. My second was the first of 3 redeeming and beautiful home births, and that experience is what ignited my passion for birth. I wanted to be a midwife for several years but that wasn't in the cards. It was years later, shortly after making the move to pursue photography, that I found my passion in birth photography. From there, my desire to support and encourage birthing families only grew, and I sought out certification as a doula. Obviously I love being there when a sweet little soul makes its debut. It's more than that though! As a birth worker, I have the honor and privilege of witnessing transformations. That realization that they are able, that they are doing it, that they are about to meet their long awaited babies... that they CAN do hard things. That moment is worth the sleepless nights, sore muscles, and changed plans. That moment of empowerment and transformation brings a tear to my eyes. It never gets old. I specialize in documenting birth in photos and films as well as supporting through labor and birth. My passion is seeing each birthing family know their options, understand the pros & cons of each, and making informed choices that support the birth they want. I strive to document those stories (for those clients that desire documentation) to provide a record of that love story as it unfolds. Having had 3 home births personally, I have a deep love of midwifery and out-of-hospital births. I have experience with home and birth center births, hospital births (natural, inductions, epidurals, & cesareans), stillbirths & miscarriage, twins, VBAC, and breech birth.

A little bit about myself! I was born in Kansas, raised in Colorado! I moved to Texas in the summer of 2009. I have been a Postpartum and Birth Doula since 2021. Before be coming a doula I received a child development associates degree and became a preschool teacher for 8 years I also ran my own home daycare for a little over a year and I was a private nanny for 2 special needs children. I have a wonderful spouse and 5 beautiful children that are ages 17, 15, 11, 6 and 19 months old! As a family we all enjoy being outdoors, camping, going to the beach, and swimming in the Texas summers! I am a foodie and love going and trying local food trucks! My spouse and I also run our own food pop-up business here in San Antonio! I love being to be able to provide good nurturing meals for people! I became a doula after my own childbirth experiences. I was a teen mom at 15 years old and I didn't really feel supported by the health care system, at that time my mom was around and was very supportive of me and my choices to be a teen mom. But before my 3rd child was born my mom sadly passed away and I felt really alone during that Birth and Postpartum period because I really didn't have that motherly support during that season in my life. After my 4th pregnancy I found out about doulas and was able to have one with me during my birth she was an amazing advocate and helped me navigate so much through my all natrual birth wishes and also taught me how to advocate for myself. After that I knew my calling was to be a doula!! I love listening and supporting new moms any way I can. I feel all expecting parents deserve to have a trusted person that they won't be judged by so that they can feel comfortable asking questions and advice.

Hello! I’m Taryn, a birth and postpartum doula born and raised great city of San Antonio! I have been a certified doula since 2022! I have a passion for helping women during the most intimate and vulnerable moments of their lives. By being a doula, I strive to help women find their voice to have a birth experience they can look back on with joy and confidence. I am married to the most wonderful man ever created (yes, I am bias), and together we have been blessed to raise two wonderful children: Ezra and Winnifred. We also have a gigantic white fluffball cat named Bento who loves to eat any type of food (even salads…). Outside of doula work, you will find me gardening, crafting, and playing board and video games! Additionally, I am obsessed with bread baking, and have a sourdough starter that has been alive longer than my kids! In February 2020, my husband and I were blessed to learn we were pregnant. One month later, the world completely shut down. With the unknowns of COVID, hospitals were continually changing policies on who would be allowed to support a mother during birth. With the fear of not having my husband with me, my research on alternatives began. Through my research, I learned about doulas, birth centers, home births, and unmedicated births. I learned that childbirth can be beautiful and joyful with the right support, and I wanted to become that support for other mothers and empower them to be their own voice! Both of my births were very different; one ending in a c-section the other a VBAC. Both have helped me secure my passion for this line of work. After working as a Financial Analyst Manger for a major company, my husband and I decided to take a step of faith and go down a new path. A more rewarding path. A path I know provides true value to our community.

Hello. My name is Yolyvette Boston, or Yoly for short. I am a Labor Doula, Birth Photographer and Student Midwife. I have been a doula for 3 years and prioritize the knowledge needed to enhance the support received during your birth. I was born in Puerto Rico, but San Antonio has been home for over a decade. I married my best friend Aaron, and we have a beautiful son named Noah. Being the last of six, I have been exposed to multiple pregnancies from a young age. Being present for my sisters ignited a fire and motivated me to continue to empower and support every pregnant person. I witnessed my first cesarean at 16 years of age, and it was an instant confirmation from the universe that I am meant to assist expecting families. Every pregnancy and labor experience is unique, and that is the beauty of it. No matter how many births or families you assist, they are all special in different ways. At times, the birthing person may want to give up, but all they need is a little motivation and support to flourish. Seeing mothers surrender to their bodies and finding the strength and power within when they want to quit has to be what I love witnessing the most. There is nothing like seeing how proud the birthing person gets afterward- as they should because they are amazing! Birth Photography allows me to freeze those beautiful emotions while you are meeting your little one. Those tiny toes quickly turn into smelly feet, but the pictures last a lifetime. After my own pregnancy during covid in 2021, I quickly realized knowledge is fundamental. When hospital policies are activated many of those on your birth team are replaceable. Now I strive to help your partner be the doula you need and prepare them as much I prepare the birthing person. I strive to be all-inclusive and helping all people. I am especially passionate about helping people of color, all genders, and military families. I was born into a military family, and I know family is not always around to help. Whether you are one hour away from the place you call “home” or a thousand miles, you do not have to do it alone. It does not matter what your birth plans are; you deserve to be respected, heard, encouraged, and supported during and after your pregnancy. I am also fluently bilingual in Spanish and English.

My name is Allie Contreras. I am an army Brat, I was born in Germany and raised in the south and El Paso, TX. I have been a certified Doula since 2022. I am married to my best friend, he is my person, and truly understands and supports our family. We have two amazing kids Evelyn (9) and Logan (6). They are my reason for being and keep me going in life. My hobbies are going to the gym and listening to podcasts and books. I also started Midwifery school May 2023! I love women's health and learning all that I can about it! I started my journey with birth work in 2007 after watching the Business of Being Born. After two unmedicated births, one home birth myself, my love of birth continued to grow. My midwife and doula showed me what it was to truly mother and mother myself. I overcame Postpartum Anxiety, and looked into what a Doula was and what role they played in the birth team. When my father died in October 2021, I realized how much we truly need to cherish life and to follow our passions. I had been a Cosmetologist and Esthetician for 10 years and finally took the leap into birth work! It has been joyous and eye opening. I truly feel called to this work. I feel happiest serving others, and I am very passionate about serving LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC families. I want to emotionally support, because I was not given that. I have worked for rescue missions and the child crisis center. To be able to help a birthing person during the most transformative moments is a privilege.

Asia is a dream. She is so loving and professional. I am a first time mom and we chose her to nanny for us while I went back to work. She made me feel reassured about leaving my baby for the first time and I knew she would be safe and well taken care of. 10/10!

Hello! I’m Gabrielle and I am a birth and postpartum doula. I was born and raised in a small town near Los Angeles, California and moved to Texas to open the first few In N Out Burgers in San Antonio. I met my husband and moved back to California to be more close to my family, but missed Texas- so we are back again! I have a husband, 2 kids, dogs, cats, and chickens. We are very active with our local shelter and almost always have a foster animal, or 3. For 2 years we lived in an RV traveling to 12 states, and we would love to see more. I homeschool my children, and in my free time I love to travel, explore nature, listen to music, and catch up on TV. I have a bachelor’s degree and I am currently going to school to become a Registered Nurse. After my second child, I realized how important it is to have a village. I believe if I had a postpartum doula, my fourth trimester would have been completely different. There are so many women that don’t have a good support system, even though everyone deserves one. Being able to help my family members and friends who were postpartum has been such a rewarding experience; it led me to seek out formal training in doula work so I could make a career out of helping people. I am a planner and love doing research. Even though birth is very unpredictable, I love being able to inform parents of their options, advocate for them, and be the calm in the storm. I have experience in creating birth plans, different positions to help labor progress, postpartum planning, newborn care, and breastfeeding.

Bridget is the founder and owner of Abundant Joy. With a passion for working with and advocating for people of all ages and backgrounds, she has taught in the public school system, assisted in resettling refugees, counseled trafficked women, and has worked to raise well-rounded, healthy children in her role as a professional nanny. With over 21 years of experience caring for children and providing education and support to the parents she worked alongside, many of Bridget’s close friends requested her support during their birth. Bridget was often asked to stay overnight to provide friends with her steady, upbeat, and positive presence–in their living room or in a hospital room. These long nights allowed her to listen to the birthing mamas, help them sort out what their goals and options were, and allowed Bridget to advocate for them to make sure they felt comfortable and had their needs met. Bridget has found that women have more positive birth outcomes when a doula is present throughout labor and delivery. These experiences made it clear to Bridget that her talents and passion lie in doula work. Birth is unpredictable by nature, and Bridget has worked with single moms, families, and teams of medical professionals in order to help parents to be present in the moment. Incorporating the baby’s father throughout the entire process leads to a successful team effort where both mom and dad feel connected to the baby–from the very beginning to the birth. She believes that women can feel confident and empowered during their birth experiences with the right kind of unbiased support and knowledge. Bridget provides guidance through evidence-based education, as well as encouragement and compassion throughout the birth journey. From her varied and deep experiences working with parents and their children, Bridget is adept at helping parents navigate postpartum schedules and transitions. She also assists the mother with her newborn as she heals and adapts to life with a new baby. Looking forward to being a part of your joyful birth! Bridget has extensive experience supporting families in hospitals, birth centers, and home births. She is skilled in supporting mothers with Vaginal Births, VBACS, Cesareans, high-risk pregnancies, stillbirths, and twin births. "The joy of the Lord is my strength." Nehemiah 8:10

Hi y’all, For those interested in using a doula for your next pregnancy I highly recommend Juanita Lewis-Jones. She offered prenatal, delivery, and postpartum support and has been an absolute blessing to my husband and I. Doulas provide emotional support and work along side the medical providers. Juanita attended my first delivery at BAMC, helped me understand my options, and allowed me to make critical decisions in the labor room when it was most needed. She has such a calming presence and I felt comfortable leaning on her for guidance and support. Juanita is retired military and is very familiar with our particular needs as we are here on military orders and do not have any family in the area. She met with us virtually which made our meetings so convenient for our busy schedules. I would recommend requesting a doula early in pregnancy as their services are well sought after; however, they give priority to military, teen moms, and low income families. We have Christian and Buddhist backgrounds. If you’d like to incorporate belief into your journey, she will accommodate the request, but won’t push any particular sect which was perfect for our bi-cultural family. I recommend to every pregnant mom I meet to allow a doula to be part of their birth story. Juanita made all the difference in our experience. We have a healthy baby girl and I have healed both mentally and physically more quickly than I ever thought possible and I full heartedly believe it was due to her influence and support. We are better prepared as parents and partners to each other moving forward. We do and will always love Juanita like a family member Sincerely, Erika & Alex Rattanatay
