With over 21 years of experience caring for children and providing education and support to the parents she worked alongside, many of Bridget’s close friends requested her support during their birth. Bridget was often asked to stay overnight to provide friends with her steady, upbeat, and positive presence–in their living room or in a hospital room. These long nights allowed her to listen to the birthing mamas, help them sort out what their goals and options were, and allowed Bridget to advocate for them to make sure they felt comfortable and had their needs met. Bridget has found that women have more positive birth outcomes when a doula is present throughout labor and delivery. These experiences made it clear to Bridget that her talents and passion lie in doula work. Birth is unpredictable by nature, and Bridget has worked with single moms, families, and teams of medical professionals in order to help parents to be present in the moment. Helping women work with their bodies and learn how strong they are during childbirth is my most treasured role so far in this lifetime. I love supporting women throughout their pregnancies, teaching them to listen to their bodies, and helping them feel empowered during labor and delivery. I’ve been a certified Birth Doula for 9 years (now certified under Birth Boot Camp) and a Licensed Massage Therapist for 11 years. My duty is to provide a continuous source of comfort, encouragement, and support, both emotional and physical, during labor. My goal is to help families have a safe, healthy, positive labor experience. First, as a sister and a friend, then as a mother myself, I have seen the medical system sew fear and doubt into women regarding their body's capability to achieve what it was intended to. The truth is, childbirth is both natural and miraculous. I believe that every woman has the right to decide what interventions she wants to use in childbirth without the use of fear, but instead through true informed consent. I continue learning daily how best to help each new mama, both through lived experiences and through research, and will gladly share my knowledge. I also believe that every woman should be supported through the most vulnerable and powerful moment of her life. I am Amanda, I am a wife, truth loving, mama of 5. I have had 2 unexpected cesareans and 2 successful vaginal homebirths, and 1 gentle cesarean. For 11 years I have been advocating, teaching, and rooting for moms in their pregnancy, births, through postpartum and in their motherhood. I am a homeschooling/stay at home mother, homeopathic medicine believer, Jesus and wildflower lover, and lover of all things old, vintage, unique, and with a little character. I was and am a young mom and started off with little to no knowledge on how to have a baby, let alone how to take care of my baby, what to expect in those seasons of my life, and how to advocate for myself and family. Through education, tools and other wise mothers I was able to know what my mom-gut was leading to me do and I am now able to walk confidently on a path that is best for me and my family, and I am so excited to share that with you and to help you do the same!

When my husband and I first found out we were expecting, I started researching birth like a madwoman - determined to leave no stone unturned! I wanted to be prepared, but most of all, I was afraid. I was terrified of the unknown and all the horror stories I had seen on TV and heard from other women. As I educated myself, I became fascinated with birth and the amazing way God has created women's bodies to bring life into the world. My anxieties were soothed; birth didn’t have to be scary and miserable! It can be purposeful and empowering! I was able to experience doula support firsthand as a first-time mom, and the difference it made to have someone who knows birth and what was normal, to hold my hand and apply counterpressure to my aching back, and to encourage and support my husband as well was huge. Shortly after my first birth experience, I started the processs to become a doula myself. During my certification, I was able to aid in several different labors. It was a blessing to be able to learn with these mamas during such a beautiful and intimate part of their lives. Now, I am blessed to walk with women through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum pretty consistently, and I can say that there is absolutely nothing like watching women achieve their birth goals together with their husbands. That moment of disbelief, triumph, and sweet relief when baby is born and they realize it is over and they DID IT! I find myself praising God all the more after each experience!
