I’m a little late to writing this review since I had my baby in December 2025, but I’ve been meaning to share how amazing my experience with Christina Buchanan was! My first birth was in a hospital, and I remember feeling like I didn’t really have much say in the decisions being made. Having Christina as my midwife was such a completely different experience. She really believes in moms making their own choices, while still giving you honest, knowledgeable advice and making sure you feel confident in those choices. I always felt heard, respected, and supported. I gave birth in my living room, and the whole experience was honestly so empowering. Christina’s bedside manner is incredible, and I felt so comfortable and safe with her there. One thing that still amazes me is that within two hours of giving birth, my house was completely spotless. You honestly would have had no idea a baby had just been born in my living room! She was so respectful of my home and just took care of everything. After having both a hospital birth and a home birth, I can confidently say I would choose a home birth with Christina again in a heartbeat. She made the entire experience so positive and empowering, and I’m so thankful I found her. Christina is truly the best, and I would recommend her to anyone considering a home birth.

Hiring Kim was one of the best decisions we made while I was pregnant! We initially hesitated on hiring a doula since I wouldn’t be getting maternity pay for very long (and babies are expensive!), but looking back it’s hard to imagine Kim not being a part of our birth. My husband and I moved to College Station less than a year ago. While my family was planning on traveling to see us from out of state the week of our due date, baby decided to arrive 3 weeks early! Kim supported me through some arduous pitocin contractions, helped us advocate for our wishes, and kept my husband hydrated, caffeinated, and fed, which enabled him to best support me. Before the more painful contractions started my husband was even able to run home to grab more hospital bag items and let our dog out, and I’m so happy Kim was there with me so I didn’t have to be on my own as there were quite a few unexpected decisions to make due to the early arrival. I would recommend Kim in a heartbeat! She’s also a great massage therapist. Baby’s early arrival thwarted me scheduling another prenatal massage — will have to schedule a postpartum one soon :)

Katie is the best of the best! The entire experience was 10/10 through all phases of pregnancy, birth, & postpartum. She is everything you could ever want in a doula and a trainer. I had an unexpected hospital transfer due to high blood pressure which was NOT my plan A at all, and Katie was truly a rock for me and my husband the entire time. Katie brings an expertise and more importantly, an energy of total confidence and certainty. I truly don’t know how I would have gotten through my son’s birth without her by my side. She provided body work, coaching, positioning, calming presence, advocacy, and emotional safety when I was in the absolute THICK of it in birth. She helped me trust my body and the process of birth itself. Throughout pregnancy she provided awesome workouts tailored to my needs and what my body specifically needed based on our initial assessment. This preparation helped me during a really tough birth when I needed every piece of strength, both physically and mentally. To say working with Katie is an absolute game changer is an understatement!!! I can’t thank her enough.

Aniya was a hugeeee blessing to my husband and I! I wouldn’t been able to make it through labor without her. She was a calm presence in the room and manually helped me through my contractions by using counter pressure on my hips. Highly recommend her if you’re looking for someone who is very thorough in the process leading up to your delivery and if you’re wanting a peaceful person in the room with you!

Michelle was amazing to work with. As first time parents, she gave constant reassurance on what we were doing and provided us with helpful tools to use during pregnancy. When we finally went to the hospital (on Thanksgiving), she met us with calming energy and made the experience much better. She was constantly explaining to me what was going on and she was someone I could lean on when I didn't know what was happening/what to do. Michelle stayed by our side during the entire birth process and even when my wife had to go into surgery due to a birth complication. Michelle continues to reach out to us to check in on our baby girl.

With our first baby we did not have a doula and the second time around I knew I needed one. Keeley supported me from the beginning. She would check up on me and just be there when I needed some reassurance. When I needed a medical procedure early in pregnancy she offered be there. She went above and beyond even before I was in my last trimester. When I had to be induced she showed up for me even before active labor even started because I was having anxiety and she could sense I needed the support, she arrived before midnight and stayed with us until after delivery which wasn’t until 5 pm. She supported my wants and need for this labor process and she wasn’t afraid to be my advocate with the nurse and doctors. She was always very professional. She made the labor and delivery process a whole lot less stressful. Even my husband said this was completely different than our first and it was the best choice we made. If you are looking for a doula Keeley is your person. She will be there to support you to advocate for you and she will always show up for you. I couldn’t ask for a better person(doula) to be there.

We took birthing classes with Ashley and just welcomed our baby, and we can honestly say the information she provided was incredibly helpful during labor and delivery. The techniques, explanations, and guidance she shared truly helped us get through the process with more confidence. She was especially great at teaching my husband practical ways to support me and how to advocate for me during labor, which made a huge difference. On top of that, she is very personable, easy to communicate with, and wonderful to work with. We would highly recommend her services to anyone preparing for birth.

I honestly don't think that I would have had a VBA2C without Sara-Rene's support. She was so encouraging, knowledgeable, and empowering. I doubted myself so many times and she was always there to listen and gave me the space to make my own decisions. She is calm and was just the right person I needed in my corner. From the beginning she said that my birth would be pretty fast. Having had two previous long labors that resulted in c-sections, I didn't think that would be the case. Much to my surprise, my birth was fast and furious and she jumped straight in to respectfully advocate for me at the hospital and help me cope with the pain. I am so thankful that we decided to hire Sara-Rene and I will forever be thankful for her role in the birth of my last baby.

We hired Alysa for the birth of our first child, and I truly cannot imagine going through the experience without her. When I got pregnant, neither my husband nor I knew the first thing about pregnancy, labor, birth plans, or caring for a newborn. After a few OB appointments, a friend asked me what my birth plan was, and I had no idea what she was talking about. Thankfully, she had worked with Alysa and referred us to her. While we liked my doctor, we quickly realized we weren’t getting much education about labor, delivery, or the options available to us. Alysa completely filled that gap. During pregnancy, she met with us for six educational sessions that prepared us for what was happening with my body, what our birth options were, and the pros and cons of each. She never pushed an agenda and was incredibly supportive of whatever birth experience we wanted, whether that meant a planned induction, an unmedicated birth, or anything in between. When labor started, Alysa came to the hospital at 3am and stayed right by my side, supporting me in every way I needed until our daughter arrived safely. One of the things I appreciated most was that her support didn’t end after birth. She also provides three postpartum visits that you can schedule however you need them, whether that’s help with the baby, getting questions answered, taking a nap, or even enjoying your first date night as new parents. My birth experience was nothing short of amazing, and I give so much credit to Alysa for helping me feel informed, empowered, and confident as a new mother. She didn’t just support me through labor, she helped prepare both of us for parenthood. Thank you, Alysa. We are forever grateful for you.

I am so grateful for Amy. I had to temporarily move to Houston to undergo fetal surgery and I deeply needed support with nutrition post surgery and beyond. Brigette was a wonderful doula for us! I personally interviewed many potential doulas for my birth and Brigette really stood out. Not only is she skilled in her practice but she has a great passion for what she does. During our appointments in advance of the birth, she brought resources and provided clear answers to our questions. And during the birth, Brigette came to support me in the middle of the night when my labor started, all the way through to the hospital where my birth story ended with the arrival of my little girl. Even after the birth, Brigette has been a wonderful support, checking in with us regularly and doing what she can to answer questions and provide additional resources. I highly recommend her!

When I found out I was pregnant I knew absolutely nothing about pregnancy or giving birth, but Elissa gave me all the information and support I needed to feel confident and ready. Through our meetings and conversations throughout my pregnancy I felt so at ease knowing I had her In my corner. She's extremely knowledgeable, comforting, and reliable. She came to my house to help me through early stages of labor, and eventually met me at the hospital. She set up my hospital room for me to create such a peaceful space, and made sure my care team knew my birth plan. It made all the difference knowing she would be my advocate, so I was able to focus solely on myself and getting through labor. She helped me through every round of contractions, and to this day I can still hear her voice reminding me of my strength. She visited me a few weeks after giving birth, and I knew if I had any questions I could always go to her. I am so thankful for her, and I would 100% recommend her to anyone and everyone.

Laura is absolutely amazing! I was a little late to the process of finding a doula, but I am so incredibly grateful for her flexibility, support, and guidance throughout my preparation for birth. Once I went into labor, Laura consistently checked in with me and my family until she was able to arrive at the hospital. When she arrived, I was asleep, but she immediately jumped in—introducing herself to my family, getting up to date on my progress, and building a wonderful rapport with everyone. Throughout my labor, Laura was such a calming and supportive presence. She helped me relax with essential oils, light hand massages, and breathing exercises. She worked alongside my nurse to help me change positions, supported me through contractions, counted with me during pushing, and even held my leg up while I delivered my daughter. She was truly there for me every step of the way. After my daughter was born, Laura also helped me with breastfeeding and getting my daughter to latch. Her support didn’t stop after we left the hospital. In the days and weeks following my birth, she continued checking in on me and my family, making sure we were doing okay and even providing additional resources when needed. I am so grateful to have had Laura by my side during such an important and emotional time in my life. She made me feel supported, cared for, and never alone. I would absolutely recommend her to any expecting mother looking for a compassionate and dedicated doula!

From a husband’s perspective When my wife approached me about using a doula to assist with the labor and delivery of our third child, I was skeptical of how helpful a doula could be beyond what I could do to assist my wife on my own. I am a pretty hands-on husband when it comes to supporting my wife in these situations, so I really didn’t think a doula would be all that much more helpful from the help I already had done and was willing to do for this third child as well. I WAS WRONG! Emily at Magnolia Births served us in so many ways, but these are a few of the ways that she did. 1) Enhanced my ability to support my wife Not only did Emily assist my wife during labor, but she also enabled me to help my wife in meaningful ways long after I ran out of my own ideas of how to help my wife during labor. 2) Gave us insight into choosing providers, facilities, birth prep, etc Since my wife and I are not from Lubbock, Emily’s experience of having witnessed numerous births in the area gave us all of the necessary information we needed in order to find the right people and the right location for our specific circumstances surrounding the birth of our third child. 3) Another knowledgeable person in your corner during a stressful situation I was surprised by Emily’s knowledge. I knew she had prepared herself with many classes in order to serve her clients well, but Emily always had helpful information and a plan B, C, D, etc ready in case the Plan A didn’t go as planned. She is more than prepared for any situation with her knowledge and experience. I really agreed to using a doula because I knew my wife would feel more comfortable in attempting a VBA2C with a doula, but now I can say after the delivery of my third child and successful VBA2C that I will be the first one to call Emily should we need her services again! Thank you, Emily!
