Malorie Melson

3 years of experience

I am a birth doula and childbirth educator that believes every birthing person should feel informed, safe and cared for. Birth is not an illness and should be treated like the physiological process that it is. I also believe that there is no right way to birth! I am supportive of what ever birth journey my client wants to take. I’ll be there to provide information, emotional support and physical presence.

Recent review

Right out of the gate we knew Malorie would be a great fit for our needs. She was very informative, non-judgemental and maintained a calm, reassuring demeanor throughout the entire process. Malorie's support and education leading up to the delivery was an invaluable resource to us. During times of uncertainty, Malorie's unwavering guidance and confidence in us really paved the way for us to have an informed and healthy delivery. Our educational sessions were critical in making us feel confident about the whole process, as well as informed but not stressed about potential risks. She took the time to answer all of our questions, both during our sessions, as well as over text/phone calls. She checked in on us regularly throughout the pregnancy, making us feel listened to and valued.  Throughout the labor and delivery she was a very reassuring and calming presence in the room with us, providing encouragement and helpful strategies to give us the best experience possible at the hospital. Malorie worked alongside hospital staff to advocate for Stephanie's preferences, including working through different positioning during labor, as well as ensuring skin to skin was a priority post delivery. We felt she went above and beyond our expectations to be there at the hospital with us, and advocate for mom and baby.  In post-partum, Malorie was one of our loudest cheerleaders. She checked in on us regularly, helped us adjust to parenthood and provide us with tips for caring for our newborn. She helped us find confidence in some of our most vulnerable moments, and always made sure our family was healthy both physically and mentally. If we ever require Doula services in the future, we wouldn't hesitate to approach Malorie.

Hello mommas to be! I am a birth doula that is here to help provide education during your pregnancy and physical and emotional support during your labor and birth. I serve the College Station, Huntsville, Conroe and The Woodlands areas. I have been a licensed nurse for 12 years, specializing in obgyn for 8 years and pain management for 2. I have 3 kids that I am highly involved with, which is why I left my job a couple of years ago. My heart and passion is pregnancy, labor and delivery, which is why decided to become a doula and help love and support families any chance that I am blessed to. In my spare time I enjoy being a football, soccer, volleyball and rodeo mom, watching college football, music and spending time outside with my family.

My birth didn’t start as planned, I had to go in for high blood pressure and called Jamie as they were letting me know they were inducing me. She was an awesome resource as I went through each decision, she was a sounding board and a wealth of knowledge on what each decision was and what my options were. Her direction through my midwife’s options allowed me to have the most natural induction possible, and kickstarted my labor in a way that enabled me to carry on with a natural birth. When she came to the hospital room I felt a deep relief knowing she was there to help me as things progressed, but the most impressive thing for me was how her knowledge and gentle spirit put the nurses and midwife at ease to where they felt very comfortable letting us have the room and simply offering assistance. We all defaulted to Jamie, and she consulted and worked with the whole team to bring about my best birth experience. She was gentle and firm when needed and continued to be a support and resource for me after birth. My labor and delivery would not have been the sweet memory it was without her!

Vanessa was our doula for all 5 of our children. My husband wasn’t convinced we needed a doula, but after our first was born, he said, “We could not have done that without her!” So she was considered a necessity for the subsequent births. Before birth day, she met with us to discuss our birth plan and goals and how she could help us with that. She taught us what to do for pain management. She involved my husband as much as he wanted/could handle, but she did a significant amount of the pain relief techniques for me. She made sure I was drinking water and always had my cup filled up. She fed me. She reminded me to breathe correctly. She reminded me to “push from your bottom”. She held my hand. She put a cold cloth on my forehead. She knew what I needed when I didn’t. Her presence is calm and kind. For my last birth, my only home birth, she asked in our initial meeting if I had considered catching the baby myself. I told her no, but we decided to discuss what that would look like anyway. The midwife missed that birth. Vanessa made it just in time. I didn’t even know I was pushing, but she knew! She said to my husband,“She’s pushing - we need to get her undressed and in the tub.” She helped me undress and get in the birthing tub and - who knew - I caught my own baby and she was right there with me guiding the process by telling me exactly what to do like we had practiced weeks before. She helped to handle discussing the birth and updates to my midwife on the phone, communicating to us what the midwife needed us to know. She was definitely a source of comfort for all my births, but especially that one! She also does a postpartum visit to check on us and comes full of ideas, contacts, and resources for any postpartum help we need. I cannot recommend her enough. She is such a blessing to our family.

Anastasia, who not only served as our birth doula but also beautifully captured the essence of our child's birth through her extraordinary birth photography. From the moment we connected with Anastasia, we felt an instant sense of trust and comfort. Her warmth, professionalism, and expertise made her an invaluable addition to our birth team. Anastasia's extensive knowledge and experience as a doula were evident throughout the entire process, from providing guidance on relaxation techniques to offering support during the intense contractions. Hi! My name is Shannon Sappington and I am the owner of Serving Hands Doula! I have been a doula since 2016, providing personalized support and care to my clients during their pregnancy, labor and birth! Before becoming a certified Labor Doula, I achieved a Masters degree in Counseling as well as a teaching certificate in elementary education. My educational background and experiences enhance my abilities as a labor doula. I have a nurturing and compassionate spirt and I believe that the best tools I bring into every birth are my heart, my hands and my voice. My goals are to equip you to be ready mentally, physically and emotionally, and to serve you during the journey of your pregnancy, labor and the birth of your baby. Besides being a doula, I love doing life with my husband, our four kids and three dogs! We are an adoptive family - so my husband and I have 3 biological children and 1 through adoption. We love Jesus, laughing, cracking jokes, eating Chinese food, going on trips and also relaxing at home watching a movie. I try to not take life for granted and enjoy the big and the small moments of everyday life. God is my life breath and He is woven all throughout my story.

Shannon is amazing!!!! We loved having her as our doula. She helped both my husband and I through my pregnancy and my very long and hard labor. I set out to have a home birth, but ended up transferring to the hospital and she was there every step of the way. She helped me with my very hard back labor and was just the support my husband and I needed. We will definitely be hiring her again with our next baby!!

Hi! My name is Qualey and I am a Birth and Postpartum Doula. My philosophy is rooted in the belief that birth is a normal physiological process and that every mother deserves to feel safe, supported, informed and deeply heard. I became a doula because I developed a deep trust for pregnancy and birth from a young age. I witnessed firsthand how transformative this season is and how special compassionate and unwavering support can be during one of life's most pivotal experiences. In my free time I love a good iced latte and a day spent outside soaking up the sun with my family!

I can’t say enough good things about Qualey! ❤️ She was absolutely amazing throughout my pregnancy and birth. From the very beginning, she made me feel safe, heard, supported, and completely comfortable. She was so helpful and reassuring, and I always felt like I was in good hands with her. What makes it even more special is that Qualey started out as my doula, but throughout my pregnancy and since my son’s birth, she became a true friend and a friendship I know will last a lifetime. ❤️ She was able to build that personal connection with me while still being incredibly professional and knowledgeable throughout the entire experience. My son is now 11 months old, and I can honestly say having Qualey as my doula was one of the best decisions I made. I would recommend her 1 million times over to anyone looking for a doula. She is truly amazing, and I’m so grateful she was part of such an important chapter of my life! ❤️

I had the absolute pleasure of working with Valerie throughout my pregnancy, and I cannot recommend her enough. From the very beginning, she was attentive, compassionate, and incredibly knowledgeable. She took the time to listen to my concerns, answer my questions, and provide both emotional and physical support every step of the way. Her calm presence and reassuring guidance helped me feel confident and prepared, even during the most overwhelming moments. I am Shanna Hinrichs, and my story of community birth began over 20 years ago when I began supporting families as a doula, lactation consultant, and now midwife. I have known I was called to help women bring their babies earthside since I was a young child. I didn't know what that would look like, but I was fortunate to witness the intimate and precious home birth of a dear friend. That experience revealed my path as a birth worker and ignited my desire to serve women and their families in their most powerful and vulnerable moments. I am fulfilled by serving my incredible clients as their families grow. Attending births builds my trust over and over in women's bodies and their ability to transform and heal. I respect the responsibility of being a midwife and recognize the privilege of facilitating an experience that best supports my client's wishes. I believe that educated, informed choice is the best way for families to become empowered and make the best decisions for their pregnancy. That belief has afforded me the privilege to serve on the board of different cesarean awareness groups to help provide evidence-based information so families can make the appropriate choice for themselves and their current pregnancy. I am also a strong advocate for Vaginal Birth after Cesarean (VBAC) when it is the most appropriate choice. I was born and raised in Garland but have had the privilege to live in a few different states. I am married and have given birth to 9 children, each with their own distinct story. Having experienced 9 very different births and breastfeeding journeys, I have lots of hands-on personal experience to offer to you. When not engrossed in the birth world, I enjoy spending time with my husband, our 4 school-age kids still at home, and our dog and cats, as well as playing in the great outdoors, eating delicious food, and making our home in Rowlett as peaceful as a home with 4 kids (still living at home), a dog, and 2 cats can be. I would love the opportunity to chat with you to see if I would be the best midwife for you and your family. If we decide that I am not the best fit, I am more than happy to help you find the care provider you deserve as you travel this beautiful journey.

Shanna delivered my third baby. She is an amazing and caring midwife! She is knowledgeable and takes the time to get to know you and your family. She always answered my questions with detail and evidence backed information. At my birth she was fantastic in helping my husband catch our baby and managing me when I had some difficulty immediately postpartum. She was a huge blessing in my postpartum and understands the importance of support in the postpartum.

Hi, my name is Katherine Ellis and I am a Birth Bootcamp certified birth and postpartum doula! Birth is a beautiful process that I believe is meant to be celebrated and embraced. I adore working with my moms and helping create an environment where they feel empowered & in charge of their pregnancy and labor. I believe education removes fear, and I love getting to walk alongside of my moms and families throughout pregnancy and labor answering questions, being an advocate, supporting them mentally, physically, emotionally, and being a place where they can feel comfortable enough to embrace the new chapter. I truly love what I do and would love to discuss any questions you may have about services I offer. Whether you’re a first time mom or an experienced mother who just wants a different experience, I would love to be here for you & to support you through such a milestone of life. Birth belongs to women—not doctors, not nurses, not doulas or OBs, and I’m here to help create a place where you can have the birth you dream of! Postpartum also has a special place in my heart. This time is all about rest, nourishment, and recovery. I am here to make sure that you are taken care of, your house is in order, and you and your little baby are bonding! I am happy to wash bottles, pump parts, help prepare meals and snacks, perform light housework, or just take care of your baby while you rest! It is completely up to you and your needs.
