To me birth is a very sacred experience that should be treated as such. Before stepping into the role of a midwife, I spent nearly three years as a labor and delivery nurse in a hospital setting. It provided me with a solid foundation and invaluable experience, but I slowly came to realize that my values did not align with the hospital culture. When I moved to San Diego in 2018 I decided to leave the hospital and pursue my dream of becoming a midwife. During my training I truly fell in love with home birth. Witnessing a baby enter this world in the very place they will grow up is an incredibly special and sacred experience that deeply touches my heart. During my midwifery training, I made the decision to move back to Texas, wanting to be closer to my family and friends. ​ After completing my midwifery education I began working at a birth center.
