I am so happy you are here! My name is Laurynn. I am a birthkeeper and student midwife serving families in DFW and surrounding areas. I offer antenatal support through various services including birth and postpartum doula, birth planning, lactation support, and placenta encapsulation. I am happily married to my other half, Colin, and have a daughter, Olive, born at Natural Beginnings Birth Center in 2023 as well as a son, Finn, born at home this past September. Hello, I am a certified postpartum doula. I have worked with babies/children since I was 13. I babysat and nannied throughout my teenage years. In college I worked at numerous daycare facilities (newborn-preschool). I earned my bachelors degree from the University of North Texas in early childhood education. I taught for 5 years in 2nd grade and in PE. In 2008 we welcomed our first (of six) baby. I now have 5 boys and a daughter that I homeschool. My youngest is now six and I miss the newborn season!! I recently got my certification to be a nighttime postpartum doula. My goal is to support the new momma (and family) and help them to enjoy and cherish this quick season of having a new baby. I breastfed all my babies so I understand the struggles and joy of this as well.

I am Shanna Hinrichs, and my story of community birth began over 20 years ago when I began supporting families as a doula, lactation consultant, and now midwife. I have known I was called to help women bring their babies earthside since I was a young child. I didn't know what that would look like, but I was fortunate to witness the intimate and precious home birth of a dear friend. That experience revealed my path as a birth worker and ignited my desire to serve women and their families in their most powerful and vulnerable moments. I was born and raised in DFW. My family and friends mean the world to me. Having a sense of community is so important. My favorite people in the world call me Aunt Dani! To me birth is a very sacred experience that should be treated as such. Before stepping into the role of a midwife, I spent nearly three years as a labor and delivery nurse in a hospital setting. It provided me with a solid foundation and invaluable experience, but I slowly came to realize that my values did not align with the hospital culture. When I moved to San Diego in 2018 I decided to leave the hospital and pursue my dream of becoming a midwife. During my training I truly fell in love with home birth. First, as a sister and a friend, then as a mother myself, I have seen the medical system sew fear and doubt into women regarding their body's capability to achieve what it was intended to. The truth is, childbirth is both natural and miraculous. I believe that every woman has the right to decide what interventions she wants to use in childbirth without the use of fear, but instead through true informed consent. I continue learning daily how best to help each new mama, both through lived experiences and through research, and will gladly share my knowledge. I am a mother to 5 beautiful daughters, and a “Mimi” to the most precious grand baby I had the honor of “catching” at home. Born and raised in San Diego, CA and before moving to Dallas in 2019 I lived in Joshua Tree for 12 years. I moved to Waxahachie for a few years but knew my heart belonged back in Old East Dallas. When not at a birth I'm spending time with my family, sleeping in, teaching student midwives and researching everything birth with my midwife partner Elizabeth! Sundays are my favorite attending services at Highland Park Presbyterian Church, finding a new brunch spot with my family and strolling the Dallas farmers market! I love traveling anywhere with a tropical beach and taking cruises to the Caribbean. I am continuously humbled as midwife, every client teaches me something new. I trust their decisions, even when different than mine. This is their body, their baby and their birthing experience.
