I cannot say enough good things about Barb. To start off, she made sure I was well informed and well educated, and well prepared for the type of birthing experience I was wanting. She also had a back-up plan should we have to be transferred to the hospital to make sure she was able to advocate for me. I ended up having to go to the hospital for an unexpected emergency and she didn’t leave my side through it all. She arrived to the hospital with me and my husband at 3am and didn’t leave until the following day when I delivered my baby. Even then, she dropped my placenta off to be picked up by a courier and brought my husband and I food to the hospital since the kitchen and closed for the evening by the time I had delivered my baby. In between being admitted and delivering, she advocated for me with the doctors and nurses, and even sent people away so I could rest. My birthing experience would’ve been so much different had I not had her there with me, being there in whatever way I needed. Barb is more than just a Doula, she is a woman and mother with a heart of gold who gives you the type of care and support that she would want for herself. Her love and support know no bounds. Any family would be lucky to have her by their sides on one of the best day of their lives.

As a first-time dad, the uncertainty throughout 39 weeks pregnancy, somehow, made me (over-)protective of my wife and our baby. But Barbara was someone I could truly trust like family. Our baby arrived earlier than expected, and the labor day was full of twists and turns. We made multiple trips to the hospital, and the final one was late at night. I could hear her kids in the background when I called to ask if she could come again. I felt guilty asking a mom to leave her own children so late at night, and honestly, I wasn’t even sure she would be able to make it. But she did — and she arrived at the hospital before we did.
