We had the pleasure of having Stephanie as our doula. She consistently checked in on us weekly offering informational advice leading up to birth. We also were given in person care including how to prepare for birth, stretches, breathing techniques, and more. Lastly, she consistently checked on us postpartum and offering knowledge as we transitioned into parenthood. Thanks to Stephanie my birth plan was executed how I intended it to be.

Hi, my name is Katherine Ellis and I am a Birth Bootcamp certified birth and postpartum doula! Birth is a beautiful process that I believe is meant to be celebrated and embraced. I adore working with my moms and helping create an environment where they feel empowered & in charge of their pregnancy and labor. I believe education removes fear, and I love getting to walk alongside of my moms and families throughout pregnancy and labor answering questions, being an advocate, supporting them mentally, physically, emotionally, and being a place where they can feel comfortable enough to embrace the new chapter. I truly love what I do and would love to discuss any questions you may have about services I offer. Whether you’re a first time mom or an experienced mother who just wants a different experience, I would love to be here for you & to support you through such a milestone of life. Birth belongs to women—not doctors, not nurses, not doulas or OBs, and I’m here to help create a place where you can have the birth you dream of! Postpartum also has a special place in my heart. This time is all about rest, nourishment, and recovery. I am here to make sure that you are taken care of, your house is in order, and you and your little baby are bonding! I am happy to wash bottles, pump parts, help prepare meals and snacks, perform light housework, or just take care of your baby while you rest! It is completely up to you and your needs.

Yasmin Balmaceda

¡Hola! Hello everyone, my name is Yasmin and I am a Postpartum Doula. I speak English and Spanish, we can communicate in whichever language you feel most at home with. I am passionate about the postpartum period, specifically the first 40 days, and providing care to nurture the mother back to health after giving birth. My passion is cooking and self-care. We will sit down together to plan menus to aid in replenishing you and promote healing to your body. In addition, I will fill your freezer with ready to eat meals to enjoy when I'm gone, focus on your rest to promote mental ease and relaxation, and provide an environment where you are being tended to and taken care of. My role strongly focuses on the recovery and healing of the mother. My interests in continuing to expand my abilities have directed me to continue my studies and expand into a holistic traditional approach to my postpartum work. I would love to be alongside you as you make your journey through this transformative time in your life.

I don’t even know where to begin, hiring Yasmin as my postpartum doula was truly one of the best decisions I made as a first-time mom. I had an unexpected emergency C-section, my family and in-laws live out of state, and I came home feeling vulnerable, sore, and overwhelmed. I had a lot of anxiety during pregnancy and it continued after having my baby. Yasmin stepped in and filled my home with warmth, comfort, and the kind of support I didn’t even realize I needed. Before I even arrived home with my baby, she prepared my space so it felt peaceful and welcoming. Walking into that environment after surgery made an immediate difference in my recovery. She even recommended supplements to help my c-section heal. In those early days, Yasmin made it possible for me and my husband to actually rest. Even thought my husband was working from home, I needed someone who could focus on caring for me and our baby. Yasmin was that person. When I was in too much pain to sit up, she gently brought the baby to my bedside so I could breastfeed or bond without straining myself. Those small acts of care meant everything during such a vulnerable time. I also struggled with low breast milk production at first, and Yasmin supported me with so much patience and knowledge. She made me special teas and the most delicious, plant-forward meals. I didn’t realize how much fiber and nourishment my body needed after birth, but she did. Her meals were genuinely healing — comforting, flavorful, and exactly what my recovering body needed. She was also kind enough to make several freezer meals for me and my family to have once she left. She listened, encouraged me, and created a calm environment where I felt supported, seen, and truly cared for. I can honestly say my postpartum experience, especially recovering from a C-section would have been incredibly difficult without her. Yasmin helped me heal, nourished my body, and cared for me and my baby with care. I am grateful for her and wholeheartedly recommend her to any new parent. Every new mom deserves help and support postpartum.

Zaira was such a blessing to our family. My husband and I tell everyone she was worth every penny and more. She gave us so much confidence going into the delivery of our son and we never felt alone. She went above and beyond during the entire team process and even still checks in on our son. The first time we met Zaira she drove all the way to our house (a long drive for her) and before she did anything else she prayed with us in our living room. We knew from that point on she was who we would choose as our doula. She was not only there for me and my questions, she gave assurance to my husband as well and equipped him to be the best partner throughout our delivery. From prenatal visits, to random texts, delivery, and even postpartum Zaira looked after our every need. I highly recommend her to anyone looking.

Debbie Thomas of Guiding Hands Birth Services was an incredible source of peace and guidance throughout our first birth journey. As first-time parents, we had so many questions and hopes for a low-intervention birth. Debbie provided a thoughtful guide we frequently turned to, and her late-night and early morning support allowed us to ask questions without any judgment. During my long 35-hour labor, Debbie remained a calming and steady presence, even when complications led to a C-section. Afterward, my husband reflected on the moments where I was so scared and weak, she was able to give support he didn’t know to give ‘That’s exactly why we decided to hire Debbie… she was worth every penny.’ She has such a heart for serving others, and we are deeply grateful. If you are in The Woodlands or surrounding area, Debbie Thomas is exactly who you want by your side… she will guide you with compassion, knowledge, and unwavering support.

LaVerne Reid

Hi, I'm LaVerne, also known as the Baby Whisperer and I've been a doula for almost ten years. My work centers on creating a calm, nurturing environment where families can truly thrive during pregnancy, birth, and those busy early weeks. I support mothers through the full spectrum of their journey, from birth preparation and labor support to postpartum recovery, both mentally, emotionally, and physically. During birth, I serve as a steady presence, offering comfort measures, encouragement, and advocacy so you can have the empowering experience you envision. In the postpartum period, I'm deeply attuned to babies' cues, cries, and signals, and I provide hands-on care including household tasks, feeding, diapering, bathing, sleep coaching, & meal prep for mom. I also manage The Retreat at MILK Maternity in The Woodlands.

LaVerne is a treasure! I call her the baby whisperer because she is so attuned to babies and good at meeting their needs. I half joke (and am half serious) that families should fight over the chance to work with her. We only worked with her for two weeks, a short amount of time, but in that period she was able to transform our baby’s quality of life - she flagged that he most likely had a dietary intolerance and that he seemed to be in pain while lying flat. I spoke to his doctor and after I cut dairy and soy from my diet and we started him on reflux medication, it was like having a whole different baby - he was so much happier and more comfortable. She was extremely attuned to him and his needs and very gentle with soothing. She was proactive and fit into our household routine, for example she would refill my water or organize the baby clothes without being asked. She went above and beyond in caring for our baby and helped to resolve a diaper rash that had been ongoing for weeks. She was very professional, prompt, supportive, and cared for my baby as if he were her own. I will forever be grateful for her attention to our baby’s needs and advocacy on his behalf that helped us make changes so he wouldn’t have to be constantly uncomfortable and in pain. Our entire extended family of parents and grandparents noticed how gifted LaVerne is with babies and how well my son did under her care. She has my highest recommendation without reservations for other families.

Hello! So great to meet you, I'm Max! I am a LGBT/ Queer affirming birth doula who brings a unique perspective to the pregnancy and laboring experience. My background in body work and physical therapy gives me a distinctive understanding of how to apply my skills as a doula to physiological birth. My calming presence is reassuring to those I'm supporting, and their families. I am passionate about empowering all pregnant and birthing people. My strength is my adaptability; which allows me to support families in their choices. I am a parent to my 14 year old clone, who I birthed at home. I run a suburban goat farm and have two giant fur babies that try to steal my bed. (Great Danes named Freyja and Kuma). I enjoy dad jokes, puns, and free books. Max is the best. I have very complicated pregnancies and work in ob so max understands my stress levels and always put me at ease through out. Our family worked with max during my second pregnancy which was debatably the worst, and my third. Max always had a plan for our sessions and understood how crappy things were for a mom with hg. When it came to my labor all the prep work I did with him absolutely paid off. During these pregnancies I felt more skilled because max. He helped me remain present, create realistic goals, and take care of myself which can be so difficult. I truely trust the work he does and feel that he is such a valuable member of my birth team. Doulas are a blessing.

I contacted Monisha through Bornbir when I was 36 weeks pregnant. After speaking with her I knew that she was the doula for me. She was very informative and helpful and the initial conversation was like I was talking to someone I already knew. She came over and helped my husband and I through exercises and techniques for pain management prior to labor and answered all of the questions that we had. My goal was to have a natural birth with no medication and she helped tremendously in accomplishing that goal. I could not have done it without her. She also helped tremendously with postpartum assistance with the baby when my husband needed to go back to work. She even did my hair! I couldn’t imagine a better experience.

Hiring Chelle was, without a doubt, the single best decision we made for our birth journey. From start to finish, she was endlessly patient, deeply attentive, and a true advocate for our growing family. Welcoming our baby boy into the world was an incredible milestone, but there were moments during labor when things moved fast and I wasn't fully aware of what was happening. She stood by my side, making sure my birth doctor fully respected my time, my voice, and my birth plan. I followed her expert advice and calming guidance every step of the way, which turned what could have been an overwhelming day into a remarkably smooth and genuinely enjoyable experience. Her care didn't stop in the delivery room, either. She captured the most precious, memorable photographs of our son's birth, moments we will treasure for a lifetime. And when we finally returned home from the hospital, walking into a house that she had quietly gone ahead and completely cleaned up and organized was the ultimate relief. She even stepped in to watch our newborn so my husband and I could catch our breath and truly rest. If you are looking for a doula who brings fierce advocacy, a comforting presence, and above-and-beyond postpartum care, look no further. We are endlessly grateful for everything she did for our family! *Honorable Mention* Her herbal teas are absolutely amazing! I have drank both her post and pre-birthing teas, and they definitely do exactly what they say they do! 10/10!

September 2026

Laura is absolutely amazing! I was a little late to the process of finding a doula, but I am so incredibly grateful for her flexibility, support, and guidance throughout my preparation for birth. Once I went into labor, Laura consistently checked in with me and my family until she was able to arrive at the hospital. When she arrived, I was asleep, but she immediately jumped in—introducing herself to my family, getting up to date on my progress, and building a wonderful rapport with everyone. Throughout my labor, Laura was such a calming and supportive presence. She helped me relax with essential oils, light hand massages, and breathing exercises. She worked alongside my nurse to help me change positions, supported me through contractions, counted with me during pushing, and even held my leg up while I delivered my daughter. She was truly there for me every step of the way. After my daughter was born, Laura also helped me with breastfeeding and getting my daughter to latch. Her support didn’t stop after we left the hospital. In the days and weeks following my birth, she continued checking in on me and my family, making sure we were doing okay and even providing additional resources when needed. I am so grateful to have had Laura by my side during such an important and emotional time in my life. She made me feel supported, cared for, and never alone. I would absolutely recommend her to any expecting mother looking for a compassionate and dedicated doula!
