Hi, I’m Vanessa, founder of Pocket Doula Care, an Austin-based team of birth and postpartum doulas. I personally support a select number of families while also helping each family find the right Pocket Doula for their needs. Every family starts with a conversation with me. I am a certified midwife in both Europe and the US, an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), and a Natural Family Planning coach with the Marquette Method. With over 20 years of experience in holistic birth, I’ve worked in Belgium, France, and the US, including hospitals, private practice, and Birthing Center. ​ My husband and I moved from France to Austin, Texas, in 2012 with our two eldest children, and our youngest son was born right here in Austin. Talk about a Texan welcome! I’m also a certified Haptotherapist, having received my certification from CIRDH in 2012. Haptonomy, widely used in Europe, helps parents-to-be function as partners in parenting before birth. Jessica is the owner of Moon & Stars and has had the honor and privilege of serving families since 2004. She is a Birth and Postpartum Doula with a passion for 4th-trimester support. Her biggest goal for postpartum support is to support growing families as the family transitions into their new roles. She provides non-judgmental support, and evidence-based education and has a diverse set of skills that will help you navigate the early weeks of parenthood. She has experience working with babies born premature, medically complex babies and high order multiples. She has experience with vaginal births, c-sections and specialized training to support VBAC. In 2014 she expanded her education and gained a Pediatric Sleep Consultant Certification. Jessica helps families create healthy sleep habits from day one. When her time comes to an end, rest assured families will feel confident in their ability to care for their baby and have a great understanding of their baby's sleep needs. My experience with high-risk mothers & newborns has helped me see just how special the birthing experience is. Seeing couples turn into a family for the first time, or seeing siblings introduced to their new brother/sister warms my heart to no end. While my years working in the hospital provided great learning experiences, I realized that my passion lies with mothers and newborns in their home environment.
