About Sara

Hello, friends! I’m Sara-Rene, part time L&D registered nurse and birth doula. As a montrice doula, I am able to help parents labor at home for as long as possible while ensuring the safety of both mom and baby. I am clinically trained to assess baby’s heart rate, vital signs of laboring mom, and perform cervical exams as requested. I work with you and your partner to help ensure the most positive birth experience possible. It is my mission in life to help parents welcome their sweet babies while feeling empowered through labor and birth. Combining my labor nurse and doula experience, I have been a part of over 1,000 births! I have a special passion for VBAC moms as well since my first two children were born via cesarean followed by three successful, unmedicated vaginal deliveries. I help educate with both evidence based research and experience, we will review birth preferences, and I will provide both physical and emotional support during labor, birth, and postpartum.

I honestly don't think that I would have had a VBA2C without Sara-Rene's support. She was so encouraging, knowledgeable, and empowering. I doubted myself so many times and she was always there to listen and gave me the space to make my own decisions. She is calm and was just the right person I needed in my corner. From the beginning she said that my birth would be pretty fast. Having had two previous long labors that resulted in c-sections, I didn't think that would be the case. Much to my surprise, my birth was fast and furious and she jumped straight in to respectfully advocate for me at the hospital and help me cope with the pain. I am so thankful that we decided to hire Sara-Rene and I will forever be thankful for her role in the birth of my last baby.

Sara was EVERYTHING I needed. From the first visit, I knew she was a great fit for my family. She even did a "big sister class" with my 6 year old. During our ongoing visits, she gave me strength & courage & information to make decisions. During labor, She spent hours applying pressure to my hips & talking me through every movement & contraction. She pushed me to keep going when I felt like quitting & was gentle with me when needed. I can't recommend her enough. I am so thankful she was my doula, she's worth her weight in gold and I truly believe she was made for this! Book her now, I promise you won't regret it!

We owe so much to Sara-Rene. We contacted Sara-Rene during my third trimester. Throughout my pregnancy, I was considering a TOLAC but had many concerns about uterine rupture. This labor was just 20 months after my C-section with my first baby, who was breech. My recovery from that C-section was really hard on me. I’m a very active person and even a year postpartum, I was still having pain at my incision. After many conversations with my husband we decided to pursue a VBAC. After speaking with three doulas, I knew Sara was the right fit within minutes of our first phone call. Our labor was anything but easy. 24 hours in the hospital, 26 hours after my water broke. We dealt with hours of fetal heart decelerations, severe pain, and ultimately a placental abruption that required a vacuum-assisted delivery. Throughout it all, Sara was an incredible advocate. She helped us understand every intervention, suggested different positions to help move the baby, and kept us informed every step of the way. What I appreciated most was her honesty. She believed in my ability to have a VBAC, but she didn't sugarcoated the situation. She reassured us while also being realistic about where we were in labor and what might happen next. Her background as an L&D nurse, combined with her experience as a mom who has had successful VBACs and home births, makes her an incredible resource. She understands the medical side of birth while also providing compassionate, unwavering support. She speaks “nurse,” but she also speaks “mom.” I truly believe we would have ended up in the operating room the night before if it weren’t for her guidance, encouragement, and advocacy. I got my VBAC, and I wear it proudly. If you’re looking for an evidence-based doula with a huge heart, Sara is worth every penny. I couldn’t recommend her more highly.
