Hello! This is my first pregnancy and I’ll admit I’m pretty scared! I have very bad PTSD from multiple sexual assaults so I’m very nervous about what will happen to me. I will be giving birth in Edmonton, I don’t have a birth plan yet, I don’t know where to begin.

I’m not sure where I would like to have birth. I don’t know anyone who’s had a home birth and I never really knew that was ever an option. I’m flexible in my budget. This is my first child so I don’t know what to include in my birth plan. I don’t even have an OB yet and I’m 16 weeks.

Looking to have someone in my corner while giving birth. Someone who knows my birth plan. This is baby number 3 for me and there is so much I’ve learned and want to do differently. I thought giving birth at home would be great but that seems to be a bit harder than I first thought out to be. But having someone who knows in the hospital with me would be fantastic. I don’t exactly have a budget. This will be my first time being with one. Birth plan has always been get the baby out safe. I definitely don’t want any of the extra stuff they try to do or “try to help” you with getting the baby out. I want delayed cord clamping as far as it can go and I know most consider it to be 1-5 minutes which doesn’t seem long enough to me. I know hospitals have protocols about doing certain things and I want someone who’s listening while I am labouring because that in itself is hard enough.

Plan to give birth in a hospital, budget? I would like to have a vaginal birth not opposed to epidural. Also for post partum support as I am feeling anxious about this entire process.

Sturgeon Community Hospital (St. Albert) 2,000$ It’s my first baby, I’m hoping to have a natural birth, but still nervous and want to be in a hospital. I’m nervous my voice won’t be heard, I want support that the doctors and nurses are actually listening to us. I feel like any couching and support would be helpful, especially since I’m not sure what to expect. I’m drawn to water, I’m not sure if I can have a water birth there, but water seems soothing, even to be in the shower. I’m hoping for a natural birth as possible, giving time before clamping the cord, skin to skin etc.
