As it was with my first set of twins, I'm finding it difficult to meet all of the babies' newborn needs (being held while I breastfeed one, holding or soothing to sleep, etc) while managing my own needs (food and water, haha!). My husband & I just moved to Paducah from St. Louis, I had wanted to give birth at a birth center, but there aren't any around. This is my first pregnancy, we're very excited. So I am looking for support, information, and help to have a birth with as least intervention as possible.  I am currently looking for a birth doula for my first pregnancy. This is my first baby, and my due date is April 22, 2026. I feel scared and nervous when I think about labour and birth. I am planning to have a vaginal birth and have some concerns about tearing. I am also hoping for a calm and peaceful birthing environment, as I tend to feel anxious in busy settings, such as rooms with frequent interruptions or medical students present. I am looking for a doula who can advocate for me and my baby and help me feel supported and informed throughout the process. I also wanted to ask whether your doulas are certified through a recognized organization, or if you are registered as a paramedical practitioner in British Columbia (such as a Naturopathic Doctor or Social Worker). I have extended health benefits through Pacific Blue Cross and would be using those benefits. Ideally, I am looking for someone who can submit claims under their registration or provide an official receipt that includes their registration number for reimbursement purposes. I’m interested in getting a doula, still learning about this process. Plan to have birth at hospital and would like additional support for labor as I have lots of questions. After having baby want to ensure I’m set for success and things are good. I struggle with anxiety and depression but breastfeeding is very important and my hope is that I can do that.
