Amanda Newkirk Birth & Postpartum Doula in Knoxville, TN
About Amanda
Hello! I’m Amanda and I am so excited to meet you! I am a DONA trained birth and postpartum doula in Knoxville, TN. I also serve some surrounding areas such as Norris and Seymour. My passion for pregnancy, birth, and newborns began when I was 16 on a mission trip to Haiti, where I witnessed a woman laboring on a five-gallon bucket in a simple cement room. That experience gave me a deep appreciation for the strength of women and the incredible journey of bringing new life into the world. Years later, after giving birth to our daughter in 2015, my husband and I knew we wanted to help other families experience the joy of becoming parents. In 2018, 2020, and 2023, I had the incredible privilege of carrying three babies as a gestational surrogate and watching three families meet the babies they had dreamed and prayed for. Those experiences have shaped the way I support families today. I know every pregnancy, birth, and family is different, and I believe you deserve to feel informed, supported, heard, and confident throughout your journey. As you prepare to welcome your sweet baby, it would be an honor to walk alongside you and remind you of the strength the Lord created within you—the strength you already carry and the strength it takes to bring your baby into the world.
Birth & Postpartum Doula services
My goal is to help you feel informed, confident, cared for, and supported throughout pregnancy, birth, and the transition into life with your new baby. Birth Doula Support I provide continuous physical, emotional, and informational support throughout pregnancy, labor, and birth. Birth services include prenatal preparation, help exploring birth preferences, comfort measures and positioning, support for your partner, continuous labor support, and immediate postpartum support. I am on call 24/7 beginning at 38 weeks so you can feel confident knowing support is available when labor begins. Postpartum Doula Support Postpartum care is designed around what your family needs most during the early weeks with your baby. Support may include newborn care, feeding and breastfeeding support, emotional support, help with rest and recovery, light household tasks, baby soothing techniques, and practical guidance as you adjust to your new routines. I can care for you, your baby, or both so you have space to recover and feel more confident in your new role. Partner Preparation Sessions I also offer private, in-person partner preparation sessions designed to help partners feel more prepared and involved. Sessions can include hands-on practice with labor positions and comfort measures, ways to provide meaningful support during birth, communication strategies, and newborn basics such as holding, swaddling, diapering, and soothing. Every family and every birth is different, so my support is never one-size-fits-all. I’m here to honor your preferences and help you feel empowered to make the choices that are right for your family.
