I am hoping to give birth in a hospital and I would like to find a doula that accepts insurance. I am interested in having a natural birth with no induction. I am also open to having an epidural but I have 3 sisters who have all given birth naturally to all of their babies so I think I can do it too. I'm looking for additional support specifically at birth. My husband is very supportive but he also has some anxiety in medical situations and we both think it would be great to have an in-person doula for additional and experienced support.

we plan to give birth at Bon Secour St. Mary's hospital. We're first time parents but are a little older (32 & 40) and would love some extra help in the delivery room and after birth. So far we've had very few complications and are hoping to have a natural birth with an epidural for pain management with very few if any friends and family around.

If I need intervention then I may opt for Epidural. But I still would like to be in positions fitted for having the epidural. I do not want to labor on my back. Giving birth in Fredericksburg, Virginia (Mary Washington Hospital.) EDD is 4/28/26 but I am AMA and have been told they won't let me go past 39 weeks, which would be delivery around 4/21. It is the first birth for both me and my husband. I have gestational diabetes but it is fully diet controlled and I've been given no indication that I'll need to be induced earlier or have a c-section. I am hopeful to go spontaneously before needing to be induced, because I really want to avoid an epidural (I don't mind other pain meds, but I do not want to be numb), and I've heard that being induced makes it much more likely you'll need an epidural. We've done all of our birth classes already (labor and delivery, breastfeeding, home with baby) so mostly looking for delivery support at this point. Never thought about using a doula until this last week or so, which is why I'm a little late to the game!
