What's the Cost of Hiring a Midwife in Bentonville, AR?

The cost of a midwife in Bentonville, AR, can vary depending on the services provided, experience, and location. On average, midwife services for prenatal care, delivery, and postpartum care can range from $2,000 to $6,000 for home births or birth center deliveries. Some midwives may offer payment plans, and costs can also depend on whether you have insurance coverage. It's recommended to contact local midwifery practices or birthing centers directly for specific pricing.

The cost of a midwife in Bentonville, AR can be influenced by several factors:

  • Type of Midwife

Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNMs) who work in hospital settings may have different pricing than Certified Professional Midwives (CPMs) who attend home births or birth center deliveries.

  • Birth Setting

Hospital births with a midwife typically cost less out-of-pocket when covered by insurance, while home births and birth center deliveries may have different fee structures.

  • Scope of Services

Many midwives offer comprehensive packages that include prenatal visits, labor and delivery support, and postpartum care, which can affect the overall cost.

  • Insurance Coverage

Whether insurance covers the cost of a midwife in Bentonville, AR, depends on your specific insurance plan and the midwife's credentials. Many insurance plans cover midwifery services if the midwife is licensed and working in a recognized healthcare setting, such as a hospital, birthing center, or even home births, depending on the policy. It’s essential to contact your insurance provider to confirm coverage details, including in-network providers and any out-of-pocket costs. Additionally, Arkansas law may influence coverage, as some states have regulations supporting midwifery care under insurance plans. Always verify directly with both your insurance and the midwife you choose.

  • Experience and Specialization

Midwives with extensive experience, additional certifications, or specializations such as VBAC support or water birth may charge higher rates.

  • Geographic Location

Midwifery costs can vary based on the cost of living and demand for midwifery services in your specific area.

When considering hiring a midwife in Bentonville, AR, it's advisable to research and interview several midwives to find one who aligns with your birth plan, preferences, and budget. During consultations, you can discuss their specific services, insurance acceptance, and pricing structure to ensure you have a clear understanding of what is included and the associated costs.

I cannot recommend Robin enough! She was the perfect addition to my birth team! She helped me recognize, evaluate and process possible situations that could arise during labor/delivery which helped me go into my birth experience with as much knowledge as possible. She has a very calming presence yet is willing and ready to “go to bat” for her clients when necessary to help them have the best birth experience possible! The amount of time and energy Robin devotes to her clients is unmatched- From answering all of my questions, to providing research articles to help me make informed decisions, to guiding me through various helpful movements and positions prior to and throughout labor and documenting the birth of my daughter. I am so glad I had Robin by my side throughout my pregnancy, labor and delivery and I will definitely be using her services again for any future babies we have.

Hi! My name is Susan Preston. I am a Jesus lover, wife, mom of five, Gammy to one, and business owner. I live in Prairie Grove and serve families across Northwest Arkansas and Eastern Oklahoma. Caring for families in general is a joy, Postpartum care and birth planning are my passion. Being a doula is a calling I am extremely proud and blessed to embrace. Whether that be walking with you hand in hand through birth, after birth, educating, goal setting, or referring. My heart is to see families flourish and thrive. No matter if this is your first baby or your fifth I would love to be part of your village! I have served with The CALL (supporting and encouraging foster/adopt families), the Independent Living Program through DCFS (helping teens that have aged out of foster care navigate adult life), Loving Choices crisis pregnancy center (as Site Director), and so much more. When I'm not loving on families I enjoy glamping, hiking, the lake, travel, cooking, and getting lost in a good book.

Susan is very down to earth, friendly, and thoughtful. She helped us think and plan through our first pregnancy, as we had no idea where to start. It was truly a blessing having an expert in your corner to help navigate all the expected and unexpected things that come with pregnancy and new parenthood. Now that our baby is here, Susan still regular checks up on us to make sure our family is doing well and thriving.
