What to expect

Bringing a combination of professional childcare experience, Newborn Care Specialist training, and hands-on experience caring for two babies from birth, I provide thoughtful, responsive care during the important transition into newborn life. My approach is centered around safe sleep, responsive caregiving, age-appropriate development, and helping families establish sustainable routines that work for both the baby and the parents. I believe newborn care is about more than following a schedule. Every baby has individual cues, rhythms, and needs. I focus on observing the baby, responding appropriately, and working collaboratively with parents rather than imposing a one-size-fits-all routine. My goal is for parents to feel supported, informed, and confident, while their baby receives safe, nurturing, and attentive care. I am available for overnight, and short-term newborn care, depending on the family's needs.

Frequently asked questions

What is a Newborn Care Specialist?

A Newborn Care Specialist (NCS) provides specialized support to families during the newborn stage. This can include newborn care, feeding support, soothing, safe sleep practices, daily routines, developmental activities, and practical support for parents as they adjust to life with a new baby.

When should I hire a Newborn Care Specialist?

Families can benefit from NCS support from the first days or weeks after bringing their baby home. Some families book support before the birth, while others reach out after the baby arrives and they realize they would benefit from additional help.

Are you a certified Newborn Care Specialist?

Yes. I completed the Foundational Newborn Care Specialist Training through Newborn Care Solutions and received my NCS certification in 2026.

What types of support do you provide?

My newborn care services can include feeding and bottle support, diapering, soothing, safe sleep practices, sleep and feeding routines, newborn laundry, nursery organization, age-appropriate developmental activities, and support with the baby's daily rhythm.

Do you sleep while the baby sleeps?

For overnight care, my primary responsibility is caring for the baby and supporting the family's overnight needs. Depending on the baby's routine and the family's preferences, I may have periods of rest when the baby is safely sleeping. Expectations regarding overnight rest can be discussed before the placement begins.

Do you help with breastfeeding?

I can provide practical support around feeding routines, including bringing the baby to the mother for feeds, bottle preparation, burping, and settling after feeds. I am not a lactation consultant, so any breastfeeding or lactation concerns requiring clinical guidance should be addressed with an IBCLC or healthcare provider.

Do you help establish a sleep schedule?

I can help families create consistent, age-appropriate sleep routines and support healthy sleep habits. Newborns have changing developmental needs, so I focus on responsive care rather than rigid schedules.

Do you do household chores?

My focus is on the baby and baby-related tasks. This can include washing bottles and pump parts, doing the baby's laundry, organizing the nursery, and keeping baby areas clean and organized. General household cleaning is not part of my standard NCS services.

Do you work overnight?

Yes. Overnight newborn care is one of the services I offer. My schedule and overnight hours can be discussed based on the family's needs and availability.

How long do families typically hire an NCS?

Every family is different. Some families need support for a few weeks, while others prefer several months of assistance. I am happy to discuss a schedule based on the family's needs and the level of support required.

Are you CPR and First Aid certified?

Yes. I am trained in infant and child CPR and First Aid, with a focus on responding appropriately to common emergencies involving newborns and young children.

Are you vaccinated?

Yes. I am up to date on recommended vaccinations and take health and infection-control precautions seriously when working with newborns, particularly during the early weeks when babies are especially vulnerable.
