Hi, I’m Katie—an IBCLC dedicated to supporting families with compassionate, evidence-based care. I received my lactation training through Metropolitan State University of Denver and have spent the past eight years working as both a birth and postpartum doula, supporting more than 100 families through some of the most tender and transformative moments of their lives. I come to lactation work with a foundation in Nutrition, holding a bachelor’s degree from UNC.  I have three kiddos of my own—each with their own unique breastfeeding journey. These experiences deepen my understanding that every family’s path is different, and every goal is valid. I truly love being welcomed into people’s homes and consider the postpartum period a sacred space. My approach is grounded in respect, collaboration, and meeting families exactly where they are—whether they’re navigating challenges, exploring their feeding options, or simply seeking reassurance. When I’m not working with families, you can find me snowboarding, traveling, reading, cooking, and hanging out with my little crew, hopefully outside, having an adventure!

I am so glad that I found Katie! My partner and I initially hired her as a doula for the birth of our first baby, and while the birth did not go how we hoped (instead of a full term vaginal birth, she came a month early and was delivered via C-section), Katie was so helpful and supportive leading up to the birth, and came to the hospital to support us immediately after delivery as well, which helped immensely in feeling calmer during such a shocking experience. I had many challenges with breastfeeding, due to the pre-term birth, C-section delivery, and a tongue tie, so I decided to work with Katie as a lactation consultant postpartum as well. I am now at 6 months of breastfeeding and I honestly don't know if I would have made it this far without Katie's support. In addition to coming over for weighted feeds and help with positions and advice on topics ranging from breastfeeding in public to baby-wearing, Katie was always available to provide support when I was having breastfeeding-related meltdowns. She is so warm and understanding, always providing validation, gentle suggestions, and working with me in my specific circumstances to figure out how to balance my needs in the moment with my long-term breastfeeding goals. I'm so grateful to Katie and cannot recommend her enough!

Part of the leadership team of the Denver Health Doula program and a Community Doula with Elephant Circle’s Expecting Chances, she has been invited to speak, teach and attend birth related events seeking to improve the landscape of birth in our country and is always seeking to learn and grow. Pregnancy, labor, birth, postpartum, breastfeeding and parenting can be a lot to navigate. Kristen aims to support her clients with compassionate, trauma-informed, evidence-based, non-judgmental care. She holds space to address whatever comes up so families can show up to birth with confidence. Preparing you mentally, physically, and emotionally, she provides information, resources, guidance and advocacy to her clients as they navigate their unique adventure, helping them to feel empowered in their choices. When not with her own kids or working with clients, Kristen loves being in nature, traveling to new places, frolicking with her dog, swimming, hiking, biking, snowboarding, and surfing.

Hiring Kristen as our doula was the best thing I did for my pregnancy and birth. She made herself available throughout the final few months of my pregnancy via countless texts and phone calls prepared to answer all the wild questions I had about any symptoms or feelings. When I finally went into labor, none of us knew I’d be in it for a whopping 60 hours before my son was in my arms. I could go on and on about all the things she did to help get my son in an optimal position (there were many) but at the end of the day, she was just there for me. There for me when I thought I’d be having an unmedicated birth center birth. There for me when we had to have a c-section instead. And there for me after while I processed it all. She is amazing and I’d hire her again and again and again.
