I plan to give birth at UCLA Santa Monica. I really don't have much in the budget, maybe a couple thousand. I'm potentially interested in hypnotherapy and aromatherapy, but not opposed to an epidural, and would like a very quiet and calm environment with minimal yelling. Absolutely no circumcision under any circumstances. Apparently I have a chance at getting reimbursed for doula services if they work under a license of some kind, so that would be preferred. I have Blue Shield PPO, in case that's helpful. I'm 35 so "Advanced Maternal Age", and have been flagged as high-risk for my weight. I am looking for someone who can help to protect me and help me feel safe and like my choices are being respected during labor. I am absolutely open to pain medications/necessary interventions, but I do have some fear in hospitals and I don't necessarily trust the medical system 100%. My budget is probably up to $1000, I'm giving birth at the UCLA center in Westwood. I am going to decide on an epidural as I go, but if I get one I want a walking epidural. I am afraid of C section to be honest, I would rather have some control and be able to move around but not feel rushed through or pressured into procedures that aren't necessary. And I'd like delayed cord clamping :) I am definitely open to student doulas, but I don't think I want UCLA student doctors in and out disturbing my peace as I work through labor. Mainly just don't want the noise, distraction, additional people in the room.
