About me

Greetings! My name is Christine Scarlett. I am a former pediatric nurse and now a certified birth, sibling, and postpartum doula. I am also a Certified Perinatal Patient Advocate, a Certified Lactation Counselor, Certified Educator of Infant Massage, and Gift Registry Advocate. Perhaps my best credential is being the mother of seven adult children and grandmother of many. I have had one cesarean, six VBAC’s, and sadly, one miscarriage. My personal experiences run the gamut of hospital, home, and waterbirth. I have many years of breastfeeding experience and do volunteer work in that field. I homeschooled for many years and still teach in a co-op one morning per week. Other specialties include cloth diapering, babywearing, healthy cooking, and even just laundry services. Contact me for a free interview to see if I can help you meet your unique goals.

Christine was a great resource for me during my pregnancy. She gave me endless resources to help me prepare for a natural birth. When my water unexpectedly broke at 35 weeks, she answered the phone at midnight when we were on our way to the hospital and helped talk us through options and potential situations we might come across and made herself fully available. I ended up having an extremely fast labor before Chris got there (no fault of hers, I gave birth before the time we spoke about her coming) but Chris stayed with me extra time during postpartum care and when my baby had to go to the NICU. She went out and got my baby premie clothes and was continually following up until we were home and our baby got discharged. Even though our plans were very different from what we were expecting, Chris adjusted and helped us immensely! She is filled with so much knowledge of pregnancy, birth and postpartum care!

Working with Christine was an absolute blessing on my pregnancy and birth experience! We began working with her late in my pregnancy and she knew exactly the right resources to prioritize to help us prepare for an unmedicated birth. In addition, her knowledge about the hospitals and birth professionals in our area enabled her to provide helpful recommendations and information to ensure we made informed decisions and were prepared to navigate the healthcare system to get the care that was best for us. I felt so supported by her and knew she was completely invested in our birth experience and wanted the best outcomes for us. She is incredibly professional but still makes a wonderfully personal connection. She went above and beyond what my husband and I expected, and we recommend her to anyone looking for doula support without hesitation.

My husband and I had hired Christine for the birth of our second child as the first one resulted in an unexpected C-section that we were not prepared for. I knew I wanted a VBAC, and felt as though we needed the guidance and advocacy for another hospital birth. Chris first pointed us towards the right courses and classes that were extremely beneficial, and she's there with you every step of the way. When Chris takes on a client - you are her number one priority. She is so compassionate, encouraging, and a phenomenal labor coach. She was comforting to my family and worked well with the hospital staff while still advocating my preferences. You can tell she views labor, birth, and postpartum as a sacred time and she does a wonderful job of protecting that. Chris is a vessel of knowledge and worth hiring as your doula!

This was the second time we hired Chris as a birth doula, and I honestly can’t imagine being pregnant or having a baby without her there! Throughout pregnancy, she offers vast knowledge and many resources, ranging from nutrition and exercise to weening an older child to sleep strategies, and everything in between! Having Chris on your team is really like having a special aunt to ask advice from, on all things baby or family related. Labor went so smoothly and quickly this time around that Chris’s biggest role that day was taking care of us in the little things-putting essential oil in my bath water, making sure my husband had snacks, providing privacy when we wanted it, making me tea after our son was born, and helping me to be as comfortable as possible. She was especially helpful with early breastfeeding, even though everyone else told me I was an experienced mom and knew what I was doing. Having Chris on our birth team gave both my husband and I such peace of mind that we would recommend her to anyone and everyone! We knew we would be well taken care of, so we could focus on meeting our new little one!

We were so thrilled to have Chris join our birth team from the moment we spoke on the phone, and even moreso with each visit we had with her! I was so appreciative of the materials and classes she provided along with the expectation to complete them. It allowed me to fully inform myself with her guidance to be able to make the best decisions for myself, my baby, and our entire family. My favorite thing about working with Chris is that she has a set of standards that she believes in and shares them, but also tailors certain decisions to your situation. After having a very traumatic first birth without a doula, this second birth with a wonderful birth team lead by Chris was beyond perfect. All of my goals were achieved due to the commitment she helped me make to myself. As a fellow Christian, I felt even more supported in the spiritual sense as well during pregnancy and labor. Her availability and dedication to her clients is unmatched, she showed up for me during multiple false labors and finally the real one! Communicating with Chris was not only easy and clear, but also very loving and enjoyable. I just so happen to be her neighbor, and her kindness and commitment extends even being a past client! Truly a generous, caring, and lovely woman to know let alone work with! Our family is so grateful for everything you did pre and post labor, I would absolutely recommend.

Chris was absolutely wonderful to work with. She has a great bag of tools and a lot of knowledge & experience to help you achieve the birth you want. I had a hospital birth and really appreciated how she was gentle but firm on techniques and suggestions to help me to continue to process during labor. I also very much appreciated that she backed my birth plan at the hospital (and helped me compose it during pregnancy) and was a wonderful advocate for me. If I have anymore babies, she is someone I want on my birth team again! She has also been so encouraging and helpful postpartum.

We have hired Chris to be our doula for the birth of both of our children, and it has been the greatest blessing! After having our son, I was certain I did not want to walk through another pregnancy and birth without the guidance, wisdom, support, and care provided by Chris. We had unmedicated, natural hospital births with both of our children. Our second birth was my dream birth and completely executed to all of our preferences and desires. I had some unexpected health issues to navigate during my second pregnancy, and Chris graciously provided resources, confidence, and encouragement to our family each time we needed to consult with her. It is truly hard to imagine our pregnancy & birth experiences without her. God has used Chris to be an advocate, helper, intercessor, and comfort at the most significant and precious moments of our lives: welcoming our children into this world. Chris is a faithful and devoted woman of God using her time, talents, and treasures to bless mothers, children, and families. Thank you endlessly, Chris!

Chris was picked as our back-up doula since our’s was going to be out of town for 2 days near my due date. She took the time to come meet my husband and I when I was 36 weeks pregnant on the off chance we’d need her at our birth. From that meeting on she was constantly there to support me, learning my birth plan thoroughly and answering all of my questions. I ended up needing an induction due to health concerns while our doula was out of town. From the second I told her I was being induced, she explained every choice I had and made sure I understood my options. She continuously checked-in throughout the early induction and labor process and was ready to be at the hospital as soon as we were ready making sure I was comfortable. When called Chris to join us at the hospital, she was prompt and showed up with an entire suitcase of tools for supporting me through labor. She is very knowledgeable and a strong advocate for what you decide. Even though I was not a client of Chris’s most of my pregnancy, she was extremely helpful from the moment we met, I’m grateful she was able to attend and support my birth!

Chris helped us as a postpartum doula after both of our girls. After the first time, we knew we wanted to make sure to budget for this every time. She was so instrumental in helping us through those first few weeks, supporting my husband in taking care of our house, family, and basic needs so I could concentrate on my own healing and adjusting to the needs of a new baby.

Christine was an indispensable part of my pregnancy and birth experience. My husband and I appreciated all the time Christine spent with us prior to our son's birth. She really took the time to learn our preferences and impart her own knowledge without pressuring us one way or another. She is highly knowledgable about pregnancy and birth and has the credentials to back it up. We would not have had the positive birth experience we had in the hospital without Christine. She made herself available right away when we were admitted to the hospital. She knew the questions to ask the hospital staff and advocated for our needs. She created a calm environment amidst the unavoidable chaos of the hospital. I appreciated her suggestions of positions and coping mechanisms during labor. My husband also benefited greatly from Christine's presence - his needs were addressed just as much as mine and he had a teammate in his corner to guide him when I was too deep in labor to be of much help. Post-partum, Christine was just as helpful. She made sure we were comfortably settled before departing the hospital. I felt so taken care of by her due to her periodic check-ins with me via text and a very thorough follow up meeting. She truly shared our joy at our son's birth and had the same concern for him a loving parent would. I cannot speak highly enough about Christine and look forward to working with her again for our next birth.
