Alyssa Deal

3 years of experience

Hi! My name is Alyssa I am a birth doula and living in southeast Michigan. I have always loved babies, caring for my friends, and giving my all and helping whenever they are pregnant, postpartum, or simply raising their families. I have always enjoyed being able to offer acts of service and support to others, and becoming a doula has helped me embrace this love language in so many new ways I never knew possible. With becoming a doula, my goal is to help support new families and moms by emotionally and physically supporting them through pregnancy, birth and postpartum. Advocating for them with knowledge, and helping them make thought out decisions when needed in labor. I want to help every mom take back their birth and make it an experience they love to talk about and remember. As said in Isaiah chapter 66, verse 13, “As a mother comforts her child, so I will comfort you.” My goal as a doula is to hold the mother through every stage and be there for her and her family.

Alyssa was so supportive during my pregnancy and is still holding me up through post-partum and the newborn trenches. I was so thankful for her continued support during my labor when midwife and nurse shifts would change, she was a constant. I don’t think that my labor experience would have been as positive or would have gone as smoothly without Alyssa there to support me and my husband. I feel so appreciative of her support through this time in my life and I can honestly say that I gained a friend. 11/10 would recommend Alyssa to be your doula.

I have nothing but great things to say about Debra! I was her client during 2024, and had my son in November 2024. I never hired a doula with my oldest so the process was as new to me and I wasn't sure what to expect, but Debra met me where I was at and guided me through the process so it was effortless. She was always available either by text or call and always checked in on me and made sure that I had any information and support I may need! I'm not in contact with my mother so Debra, being and mother and grandmother herself brought the motherly vibes which looking back is something I personally preferred Vs having a doula around my age. She actively listened to my preferences surrounding my birth experience and when the time came she was both respectful and thoughtful of my wishes. She advocated for things I didn't want in the delivery room for me while I was deep in labor. If you want a kind, caring, compassionate, reliable, and loving doula please don't think twice about hiring Debra you will not regret it!

I have more two decades of training and practice as a Maternal Child Health Specialist. For nearly a decade, I worked in a private practice in New York, where nearly a thousand families are served each year, before moving to the greater Detroit area. I sat boards and became certified as an IBCLC in 2010. My university education was uniquely focused on the history of women and infant health care and nutrition as well as practical assessment and support of new families. I have helped women conquer the often challenging stages of lactation. From issues with newborn latching to pain and increasing milk production, I have worked with women to help them have successful nursing experiences – whatever that means for them. As a guest lecturer at medical schools, I have been called upon to teach medical students, interns, and residents in pediatrics and obstetrics about lactation, and have been called in by obstetricians and pediatricians to consult on breastfeeding topics. I earned my Bachelors of Science in Maternal and Child Health and Lactation Consulting at the Union Institute and University of Cincinnati, OH. I am the mother of six and nursed them all for a combined total of over 14 years! My expertise is in maternal and child health, emphasizing a positive breastfeeding experience and an active family lifestyle. I love to support parents in reaching their breastfeeding goals and guiding them when life circumstances limit their breastfeeding goals. The combination of these values led me to launch Lactation Lighthouse.

Christina was amazing! I was feeling so discouraged with my breastfeeding journey after having mastitis a few times and she was able to help me pinpoint what the causes might be. After meeting with her and following her suggestions i have been mastitis free and truly enjoying my breastfeeding journey. Christina is so knowledgeable, personable, and caring. She took her time with me and baby and made sure all my questions/concerns were addressed. I immediately felt comfortable with her and would use her services again! I highly recommend her!!

Christine was a great resource for me during my pregnancy. She gave me endless resources to help me prepare for a natural birth. When my water unexpectedly broke at 35 weeks, she answered the phone at midnight when we were on our way to the hospital and helped talk us through options and potential situations we might come across and made herself fully available. I ended up having an extremely fast labor before Chris got there (no fault of hers, I gave birth before the time we spoke about her coming) but Chris stayed with me extra time during postpartum care and when my baby had to go to the NICU. She went out and got my baby premie clothes and was continually following up until we were home and our baby got discharged. Even though our plans were very different from what we were expecting, Chris adjusted and helped us immensely! She is filled with so much knowledge of pregnancy, birth and postpartum care!

— Kate S., review of Christine Scarlett June 2026

Working with Christine was an absolute blessing on my pregnancy and birth experience! We began working with her late in my pregnancy and she knew exactly the right resources to prioritize to help us prepare for an unmedicated birth. In addition, her knowledge about the hospitals and birth professionals in our area enabled her to provide helpful recommendations and information to ensure we made informed decisions and were prepared to navigate the healthcare system to get the care that was best for us. I felt so supported by her and knew she was completely invested in our birth experience and wanted the best outcomes for us. She is incredibly professional but still makes a wonderfully personal connection. She went above and beyond what my husband and I expected, and we recommend her to anyone looking for doula support without hesitation.

Jill is a highly compassionate and skilled LMT and Doula. She is always seeking to learn and grow. She will put you at ease from hello, listening intently to every word you share and then will support you in planning and pivoting as needed to reach your goals.
