The cost of a midwife in Columbia, MO can be influenced by several factors:

  • Type of Midwife

Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNMs) who work in hospital settings may have different pricing than Certified Professional Midwives (CPMs) who attend home births or birth center deliveries.

  • Birth Setting

Hospital births with a midwife typically cost less out-of-pocket when covered by insurance, while home births and birth center deliveries may have different fee structures.

  • Scope of Services

Many midwives offer comprehensive packages that include prenatal visits, labor and delivery support, and postpartum care, which can affect the overall cost.

  • Insurance Coverage

Whether insurance covers the cost of a midwife in Columbia, MO, depends on your specific insurance plan and the type of midwifery services provided. Many insurance plans, including Medicaid in Missouri, may cover midwives, especially certified nurse-midwives (CNMs), as they are licensed healthcare providers. However, coverage for home births or services by certified professional midwives (CPMs) or lay midwives may vary, as some insurers do not cover these services. It's important to review your insurance policy or contact your insurance provider directly to confirm coverage details, including in-network requirements and any out-of-pocket costs.

  • Experience and Specialization

Midwives with extensive experience, additional certifications, or specializations such as VBAC support or water birth may charge higher rates.

  • Geographic Location

Midwifery costs can vary based on the cost of living and demand for midwifery services in your specific area.

When considering hiring a midwife in Columbia, MO, it's advisable to research and interview several midwives to find one who aligns with your birth plan, preferences, and budget. During consultations, you can discuss their specific services, insurance acceptance, and pricing structure to ensure you have a clear understanding of what is included and the associated costs.

If your on the fence about getting a Doula for your birth I 100% recommend Taylor. I was having a hard time finding a doula and was honestly ready to give up. When Taylor reached out to me I already gave up hope on having a doula. I decided to give the doula dream one more try and I'm so happy that I did! Taylor was super friendly and made the process very easy. She was there for all my questions and was super supportive. By the time it was time to give birth she already felt like a sister. She was super supportive and helped ease my fear of going into labor. Then going into labor she was there every second for me. Very selfless, encouraging and wise. I know I could of had this baby without her but... In my mind there is no way I could of done it without her. I'm pretty sure she's one of the reasons my labor went so fast. Definitely will be texting Taylor two pink lines in the future if I'm ever blessed again. I wouldn't want to go into labor with out her and you shouldn't either.♥️
