Sam will take off one week to ten days for paternity leave and then another week or so later in the year. We have a two year old son (Hugo) who will be in school from 8:30 to 1:30 Monday through Friday. I’m due with my second baby on 10/22. I’m delivering at Greenwich Hospital, and working with midwives from Northeast Medical Group in Stamford. My goal is an unmedicated birth with minimal interventions. My daughter was born in May 2025 in NYC. I went into labor at 39 weeks. I had a doula and made it to 6cm unmedicated, and opted for the epidural as I had been awake for over 24 hours and needed rest. Things progressed quickly from there and I had an uncomplicated vaginal birth. This time I’m hoping for a faster labor and to not need the epidural. I breastfed my daughter for 11 months and would have liked to go longer if I hadn’t been pregnant. The beginning was very challenging because of flat nipples. I primarily pumped until she started latching at 6 weeks, and things were relatively smooth from there. I’m hoping for an easier start to breastfeeding this time. I am a stay at home mom so hope to breastfeed for at least a year with minimal pumping. I know I will need early lactation support to achieve this. I’m looking to spend less than $2500 for a birth doula, and hope insurance will cover some. I’m looking for someone who will be very hands on in labor, and help me to labor at home as long as possible.
