Hi, I am a birth doula located near Columbia, TN. I believe that women are beautifully designed to give birth, and I structure everything I do around supporting and equipping you to have the birth that YOU are looking for. I am a farm girl at heart, former EMS, and now a physiological birth nerd. My priority is to find out what is most important you you, support you in whatever ways you need, and prepare you with the education, resources, and companionship you need to have a great birth experience. Although I serve women in all walks of life, I myself am a Christian and I love supporting and encouraging other sisters in Christ in the spiritual aspects of pregnancy and birth if they so desire. I have experience supporting women both in and out of the hospital, virtually and in person, and I have supported two VBACs as well, both successful.

What to expect

My birth doula package includes 2 prenatal visits, labor support, and 2 postpartum visits. During prenatal visits we will get to know each other, discuss goals for the birth experience, and talk about preparation strategies. Throughout pregnancy, general and specific-to-your-needs educational materials are provided At 37 weeks, I will be dedicated "on-call" for you and be available anytime day or night for labor support. Postpartum visits can be in-home or virtual as desired and include talking over your experience, breastfeeding support, and helping you connect to any additional resources you may need. I support hospital, birth center, and home births, as long as a licensed medical provider (CNM, CPM, LM, etc) is present. Brewer Diet Coaching services helps you to follow the Brewer Pregnancy Diet by assessing your current diet and providing tools to help you succeed in following the diet. I also offer Childbirth Education, helping you to learn about the physiology of labor and delivery, as well as the spiritual aspects of the process, all from a biblical faith-based perspective.

Dannette is amazing! She helped me achieve my dream natural unmedicated birth! Even before the arrival of our son, she met with me to go over my goals and gave me some great assistance learning different ways to labor at home and in the hospital. She was incredible on speaking up on my behalf to ensure my goals were going to be met. At first, the hospital was not willing to work with my birth plan but thankfully she made sure to continue to inform them of my plan and I was able to have my dream natural birth in a hospital. This was also my first pregnancy and I truly could not have done it without her help. She also was extremely helpful during postpartum with its many challenges and thoughtfully brought us a delicious meal as well. I highly recommend her assistance and I am forever grateful she was my doula.

Frequently asked questions

Do you support hospital births?

Yes! Weather your goal is to have an unmedicated hospital birth, you want to use an epidural, or you need support for a planned c-section, as a doula I'm here to help you feel prepared and supported at every turn.

Do you support home births?

Yes! I would love to be there for you if you choose to welcome your baby at home, as long as there is a licensed medical provider present at your birth. It is my preference not to knowingly attend a planned free birth.

What happens if I have to have a c-section?

In this situation, I would be there for you before and after the procedure. Depending on where you give birth, most hospitals will allow one support person to be with you during the procedure, and it is up to you who you'd like this to be (spouse, family, doula, etc). Some hospitals may allow more than one support person. Even if I can't be in the room with you, I'll be taking care of moving your belongings, taking care of logistics for you, providing support and guidance for you and your family, and I'll also assist you during recovery.
