Service introduction
There's no single right way to bring a baby home. Some families want a steady presence during the day, helping with feeding, rest, and the rhythm of a new household. Others need real sleep first and foremost, with someone caring for the baby through the night so they can finally close their eyes. Many families want both, in some combination, across the first weeks or months at home. Our role is to figure out, with you, what that combination looks like. Every doula on our team is certified, experienced, and trained to support not just the baby, but the parents and siblings adjusting alongside. We support families through every kind of beginning: first-time parents finding their feet, second- or third-time parents managing a new baby alongside older siblings, families welcoming twins or multiples, parents recovering from a difficult birth, and those navigating the emotional weight of the postpartum period. Wherever you're starting from, we'll meet you there.

After a disastrous and daunting first night home with twins I couldn’t help but tear up when Darcy came to the door the next morning. When she arrived we didn’t know how we would make it through the day let alone another night and by the time she left we had the tools to make it through at least the next week. Darcy is such a calming and nurturing force. She somehow simultaneously helped us make a plan for nighttime, pumping and nursing, made sure I ate and took my pain medicine, got me a glass of water, played with my toddler and sent me to bed. Being a new mother is daunting enough but bringing home twins was overwhelming and knowing that I had Darcy’s guidance helped make it all manageable. She is the perfect combination of knowledge and empathy, she has no problem making herself comfortable in your home which makes you comfortable with her in your home. I really have no idea what we would have done without her and couldn’t recommend her more highly.

I would highly recommend utilizing Darcy's services postpartum. I tried to go it alone for the first 3 weeks with my newborn, and only around week 4 did I have Darcy come to my home. It was a huge help! Having Darcy come to my home was not only helpful for my immediate needs, but also for the long term care of my baby. Initially she gave me some relief by watching my little guy so that I could get rest. She also helped with some household basics, such as folding laundry, or doing dishes, but the advice and tips she gave me about newborn care have carried me through to month 3! She gave me lactation instruction, asdvice about newborn sleep patters, feeding, and more. I continue to use many of her tips and have found that they make a difference in the every day care of my baby. Don't second guess yourself-- hire Darcy! Even if it's just for one day, it's worth the $$.

My husband and I had done a ton of reading and attending classes before our little boy was born, but once he came, we found ourselves totally overwhelmed at times with new questions and concerns. My husband stayed home for 2 weeks, but then went back to work, and we didn't have many immediate family members in the area. We had never known about post-partum doulas until a friend recommended Darcy. She was an absolute GODSEND! She was so knowledgeable, validating, patient, and kind when we REALLY, really needed it. When she first came to help us, she provided tons of information and also connected us to area resources that we didn't even know existed (and I was a reseacher!). She answered all of our questions about our baby's sleeping and eating patterms, helped us get some sleep ourselves, and listened to all of our concerns and worries. She also helped us learn to take care of ourselves, too, in the midst of a very wonderful (but tiring and stressful) time in our lives. To this day, we have continued to contact Darcy with new concerns that have arisen. My friends and family call her the baby whisperer! It is also worth noting that Darcy is extremely sensitive to the state that new mom's are in. I definitely emailed or called her in moments of desperation, and she was always willing to listen and extend her expertise. She has been an amazing part of our parenting experience, and we would both recommend her extremely highly to anyone!

I first met Darcy when I was only 10 weeks pregnant. A friend had recommended her prenatal yoga class, and from the very first session I was hooked. Every week, I looked forward to that time to be still, breathe, stretch, and bond with my baby. It also gave me the opportunity to meet other Moms-to-be and share in the wild experience that is pregnancy. As I got to know Darcy, I learned more about her other profession as a postpartum doula, and I decided to use her services when my baby, Ki, was born. I can’t begin to explain how invaluable Darcy has been. There is nothing that can prepare you for the life change that occurs when your baby actually enters the world. As a new Mom, I experienced more joy, vulnerability, and raw emotion all at the same time, which was overwhelming to say the least! Darcy is a wealth of knowledge in all aspects of motherhood, from breastfeeding support, to techniques for calming a gassy baby (which Ki definitely was!), to helping Mom get back on her feet physically and emotionally. Darcy provides the amazing gift of supporting new Moms in a gentle and unassuming way during such a fragile time for Mom and baby. I highly recommend Dover Doula to any new Mom!

Darcy has been wonderful - a great resource, someone to listen, she gives helpful suggestions and advice, does a little research if needed, and was terrific with our son! I had many troubles with breastfeeding; Darcy offered advice and reassurance along with encouragement and support (which I definitely needed)! Just to have her hold our son so I could shower or take a nap was a huge help (as our son did not like to be put down at all!). Darcy makes herself very accessible - e-mail, phone, text - I even ran into her out walking with her son. She is very easy to talk to and as a mom herself, has been there and understands a new mom's fatigue, anxieties, and the other hundreds of emotions that are overwhelming with a newborn. My husband and I definitely appreciated Darcy's support during our son's first weeks of life. Even now (my son is 3 1/2 months currently), I know I can contact her to chat, ask questions, or get another perspective on things. I highly recommend Darcy to all new moms!

Darcy is fantastic! She assisted us after the birth of our third baby. As a mother of three children, she understands the challenges of having three children and offered a great deal of advice and anecdotes from her own experience. Her calming presence and good humor made her a pleasure to work with. She was great with my older children, who loved having her around and were sad to see her leave. I would highly recommend Darcy as a post partum doula for any family!
