About me

My name is Deborah Bennett i am a Certified Postpartum Doula, certified Home Health Aide, experienced Newborn Care Specialist and certified in Adult and Pediatric CPR and First Aid, experienced in assisting families in the fourth trimester. Experienced in assisting with sleep training. I like working in the Virginia area. But i don't mind traveling for jobs. I have assisted 23 families so far in New York, New Jersey, Chicago, Texas and California. I am from Jamaica and currently live in Virginia with my husband. I believe that with the right sensitive approach and careful assistance, a family can quickly adjust to their new addition to their family. Before i start a job, i carefully assess the family's dynamics to determine their unique needs. I am here to meet each family wherever they are. Supporting them through tangible tasks, navigating feedings, diaper changes, baby's laundry, sleep training and light cleaning up, while nourishing them with home-cooked meals, or simply holding non-judgmental talk space for anything that's on their mind. My unltimate goal is to empower the parents, providing them with the resources, knowledge and skills they will need to continue the postpartum journey comfortably even when my duties ends. Total Newborn Care: Baby's laundry, light cleaning up of baby's room, cleaning of bottles and/or breast pump parts, diaper changes, feed preparation breast milk or formula, assist with storage if baby is only fed breast milk, baths if requested, sleep training and advice parents how to keep a schedule and stick to it, to continue baby's routine long after my duties are finished. Preparation meals for parents. Fixed rate per day, can book per week.
