First baby planning on a hospital birth need an advocate

I am looking for pregnancy and birth doula support.

We’re moving midway through the pregnancy to the DC region, Maryland side. We’ll probably live in the Rockville area but I’m hoping to give birth with the midwives at George Washington University’s hospital. I’m looking for a labor doula to support an unmediated birth. I also struggled with low supply with my first child so I’m hoping to find a lactation consultant who specialises in that. We have Tricare, which covers both doulas and IBCLCs.

Hello I’m currently 33 weeks pregnant looking for a doula near me, accepting insurance (Medicaid).

I need a birth doula for sure. I plan to give birth at Sibley hospital in DC. Budget is negotiable, although I'd like to stay under $2,000 if possible. I would like someone with at least 5 years' experience. I'm a 46-year-old first-time mom. My insurance provider is Carefirst BCBS. Doulas are a covered benefit. I have a BluePreferred PPO plan. I'd also like information about lactation consultants and night nannies. Thank you!

I’m looking for additional support that is affordable for labor and potentially post-partum. My husband is amazing and will be there, but my research suggests that having a doula can help to avoid unnecessary C-sections and episiotomies. I am NOT looking to do a natural birth and my research concludes that I absolutely will want an epidural, as the benefits outweigh the labor pain risks for me. That being said, I want an advocate who understands birthing. Someone who will be able to communicate with the doctors in instances where I cannot. I can’t expect my husband to do all of this, and I may be incapacitated/not thinking straight. Looking for someone with experience supporting brown and black mothers, being our advocates, and standing up for us for our needs and wants. For example, I’d like to do a vaginal birth with an epidural, and be able to move around and be in the best position, whatever it takes for labor to go the most smoothly if it is uncomplicated. I also want to be sure that the baby received skin to skin contact from both me and my husband. Other than that, I’d like to simply learn more about the support I’d receive as well as potentially have someone with the right touch to provide massage or comfort during this time. This is my first child and I’d like to ease my anxiety as much as possible. I’d like to understand the types of support I could get for about $1,500 but we can discuss options. We plan to give birth at Georgetown University Hospital and I am currently a Medstar patient.

Hospital birth $500-$1000 Vaginal birth (Vbac) at hospital

• Planning to deliver at UPMC Hanover, as long as a specific doctor is not on duty or scheduled to be when I go into labor. Otherwise, York Memorial • Budget is under $800 (not applicable if our insurance is accepted), but negotiable depending on services • Birth plan includes an epidural, delayed cord clamping, immediate skin to skin and breastfeeding, and no vaccines at birth • No requirements, but I need someone who can help me stick up for myself if need be. I had a very bad experience with an OB (she yelled, slammed a chair into a wall, and said nasty things to me and my husband) • Care recipients would be myself and my daughter who will be 2 then • Help with cleaning and laundry would be very appreciated!

I plan to give birth at Howard County General Hospital that is connected with Johns Hopkins. My OB is through Capital Women's Care in Fulton/Maple Lawn, and the OBs rotate there. I had a c-section December 2022, and I believe I was pressured into this when it was unnecessary based on speaking with doctors, friends, and family since. I want a VBAC. I do not have a large budget. I'm trying to figure out how my doulas cost. My family is willing to help a little thankfully. I'm guestimating my budget is $2k. I want someone that will advocate for me, encourage me, and help me to have a VBAC, as last time I was continually pressured to have, and my husband could not advocate for me to keep going and trying. I felt guilty about his anxieties for me, which led me to take an unnecessary and harder process of the c-section, and ended up being much scarier for both of us.

Hello, This is my first pregnancy, for both of us. I would consider myself to be relatively low-risk and fit to carry. I am looking for a midwife to oversee my baby and our progress, as well as a Doula for birth and some pregnancy guidance. I have a history of anxiety and depression as it relates to PTSD, so I like to talk things out as they progress. I am interested in a natural birth, perhaps in water, or an at home situation. We have a budget of what insurance can cover and about 150 a month more. I want my partner there for the birth, in a very chill, spiritually ambient environment. Thank you!

We live in Hanover, plan to birth in Carlisle. Looking for a home birth experience in a hospital setting. Unmedicated if possible, with minimal intervention. History of infertility and loss. Strong personality and need someone who can work with that. Looking for prenatal, birth and postpartum support. Experience with breastfeeding, baby wearing and cloth diapers is a plus. Definitely want someone with experience in movement techniques to optimize baby's positioning. My insurance covers 1200 per year and we can go a bit above that. Bonus points if we can split billing or do a visit in the new year to use both years benefits. Insurance requires a tax ID number and an invoice.

second baby , first one was in the hospital and i did have hypertension with him. did not like my hospital experience or the nurses i had. wondering if a home / water birth is even safe for me this pregnancy with my history of blood pressure issues. i’m currently 22 weeks with a baby girl and want to go all natural. no pitocin , no epidural. only want to go to the hospital for baby girl to get a vitamin k shot , otherwise i’d love to stay out of hospitals this time around. hoping for someone who takes pennsylvania state insurance as im located in hanover pa and we dont make alot of money combined with all the bills we have.

I plan on giving birth in a hospital. My budget is around $1500. My ideal birth plan, I want my husband in the room. I want to be able to walk around or be on a birthing ball. I want to try to have a natural birth but if I get to be in too much pain I want an epidural. This will be my second birth. I’m not opposed to an epidural. I want to try to have a natural birth but it any complications come up and a c-section is necessary I’m also not opposed, whatever is safe for me and baby. I want to have help with breathing techniques and coaching when it’s time to push. I don’t want forceps used, if help for baby is needed than I’m not opposed to the vacuum as a last option (avoid if possible). Delayed cord clamping for 2 mins. Skin to skin with mom and dad. I want to breast feed.

I’m really nervous about labor and delivery. I want an epidural and am good with medical intervention. I’m nervous that my husband won’t be calm during the birthing process.
