Free - Medicaid through United Healthcare Community Plan During labor - No epidural - Freedom to walk, move, and change positions when possible. - Use breathing, massage, counterpressure, and warm compresses. - Use a birth ball and peanut ball. - Avoid unnecessary interventions when medically appropriate. During delivery - Support spontaneous pushing when appropriate. - Choose comfortable pushing positions. - Delayed cord clamping when medically appropriate. - Immediate skin-to-skin when possible. After delivery - Help initiate breastfeeding. - Keep baby with me when medically appropriate. - Support my recovery and initial newborn care.

Hello! I am looking for a birth doula in the Baltimore, Maryland area. I would like to have a natural water birth & have been struggling with getting assistance with this. I have United Health Care Community Plan as my insurance provider.

First child, giving birth at GBMC in Baltimore, MD. Would like to go as long as possible without an epidural to prioritize movement, but definitely plan on getting said epidural and no desire or need to go fully natural. Would like as much education as support for going into birth, how my husband can support me (counterpressure, advocacy for a generally go-with-the-flow personality, etc.) breastfeeding (a huge goal is to exclusively breastfeed as long as possible, but my mom had to supplement with formula so I'm worried I will have to as well), postpartum, and in general what me and my husband can expect. Unsure of any budget, what is standard/reasonable, if insurances covers such a services, etc.

Hi, I'm reaching out because I'm hoping you might be able to point me in the right direction for help for my very pregnant friend in Frederick! I no longer live in Maryland (I'm out in Denver now), but I'm trying to help my best friend who lives in Frederick. She has a 2.5-year-old and is currently 37 weeks pregnant, and she's feeling a bit overwhelmed by everything that needs to get done around the house before the baby arrives. I had initially thought I'd hire someone through TaskRabbit to come help with some cleaning and organizing, but it doesn't seem like there's much of a market for that kind of help in Frederick. I thought I'd reach out in case you, or someone in your network, might be able to help. I'd love to hire someone to come in and give her house some much-needed care: a deep clean and some general organizing of baby stuff to help make room for the new baby. She has two large dogs and a toddler, and it's a small house, so there's a fair amount to tackle! I'm really hoping to take this off her plate and give her a little breathing room before the baby comes. If you know of someone who could help in this way, who does this kind of work, I'd be so grateful for a recommendation. I know it may not be a typical doula role, as there will definitely be a good amount of cleaning involved (vs. baby care). We'd be happy to pay someone fairly for their time and help!
