I’m planning to deliver at Mercy Hospital in Baltimore and would like to prepare for an unmedicated VBAC birth. I’ve previously had a natural labor in 2012 and [personal details hidden], and I’d love to have a doula alongside me this time. I’m looking for someone who can help me advocate for my wishes and communicate with the medical team when I’m in distress, provide reassurance, and guide my husband and me through different comfort measures, labor positions, and breathing techniques. I would prefer a Muslim female doula, but I’m also open to a non-Muslim female doula who understands and respects my Islamic beliefs, religious practices, and modesty preferences. I have Maryland Medicaid through UnitedHealthcare Community Plan and would like to use my insurance to cover doula services, so I’m looking for a provider who accepts this coverage.
