I am about 15 weeks right now. I have been waiting to get accepted by Medicaid before I began searching for a doula (not to have my hopes crushed)! I am 27, and this will be my first child. I believe I will most likely give birth at the hospital. I would like to do a natural birth, and I really want to get on top of it and get someone who I can trust to help me. I am pregnant for the 3rd time. I'm due around July 6th. I will be traveling cross-country from Dec 15th-Jan15th. Then flying internationally throughout Jan-April/May. We will then drive cross-country again to be back in the Hagerstown area to give birth near family. I'm interested in a midwife (I was recommended a CNM but I'm not fully educated on the difference so I am open to convincing!) who can help me virtually as a travel then with a water birth either in my home or a local birth center. My previous two pregnancies/births were unmedicated and had very little medical intervention. We are working on a limited budget but I know this is important to me to birth in this way rather than return to a hospital. We are very strong in our Christian faith and, while it's not a requirement, I would love to work with someone who can support me in that aspect as well!

I plan to give birth in my own home. I would like to deliver as naturally as I can. I'm looking to be as educated as I can be. I need someone who can explain all of my home birth options. With all the information out there, I am feeling overwhelmed and really need some guidance. I am 18 weeks pregnant with my first child. My mother was a Doula many years ago so I do know some things but I'm looking to organize my thoughts and vision of wha birth will be.

1. I plan to give birth in the hospital, and with calming effects. 2. My estimated budget without any calculations: A maximum of $200 a week. 3. I want to be completely calm when I go into labor. It’s in my intentions to have these things available and set up in the delivery room: Essential oils and a diffuser, a small space for an “altar” of Jesus (really just a tiny ritual to feel close to him), a Himalayan salt rock, plenty of water on standby, as well as tranquil music, Italian ice and banana popsicles, and whatever else I can conjure up before the baby arrives. I do not want to be on my back giving birth. I want to be as relaxed as possible, considering my condition as a more naturally at-risk, pregnant woman. I want to be able to push quicker and easier than I may be able to on my back. If possible, I would love a short labor experience, as long as my baby allows me to.
