I have additional trainings and experience in utilizing the TENS unit, navigating the NICU, helping LGBTQIA+ folks, and working with military families. My name is Kimmi Schonhorst, and I am a full spectrum queer doula based in Grand Rapids, MI. I aim to provide trauma-informed, identity affirming care to clients. I began this work attending births, and now I focus of caring for new parents & new babies. I offer LGBTQ+ affirming Postpartum Doula Services, Childbirth Education, and Lactation Education. My background has taught me the importance of staying calm under pressure, anticipating needs, communicating clearly, and creating a safe and reassuring environment for those in my care. My goal is to support parents, especially new and postpartum mothers, during one of the most beautiful and demanding transitions of life. I believe families deserve a calm, dependable presence in their home and infants deserve patient, attentive care that allows them to feel safe and nurtured. Whether providing overnight newborn care, helping a recovering mother get some much-needed rest, or simply offering an extra set of capable hands, I strive to create a supportive environment where the entire family can rest, adjust, and grow together with confidence.

Hi there! My name is Lauren and I am a birth doula located in Grand Haven, MI. I’m here to support you through your individual birth journey.

I grew up in west Michigan, cradled by the crescent moon grin of the Great Lakes. My desire to become a doula first took root in experiences I had volunteering with local organizations and non-profits when I was in high school. My passion for community-based care began in the basement of a neighborhood church, where I first volunteered with a non-profit organization dedicated to helping families find and keep secure housing for their children. From these initial experiences, I got to witness first-hand how important it is for families to be well-informed and unconditionally supported in order to thrive together. The roots of my work as a doula and student midwife are the same as they were back then, before I even began birth work : when families are given non-judgemental support and evidence-based education during their transition into parenthood, they can have the most satisfying, empowering experience possible. As a doula, I emphasize a client-centered approach where you are seen as the expert in your own care; together, using support and education, we will create a birth / postpartum plan that supports the health and well-being of you, your baby, and your support team.

Christine Anderson is a Licensed Massage Therapist and Holistic Postpartum Care Specialist. She is a graduate from the Kalamazoo Center for the Healing Arts and specializes in prenatal/postpartum massage, and offers integrated body work sessions, including (but not limited to) Myofascial Release, Craniosacral Therapy, polarity and chakra balancing and intuitive support through body-led healing.​ ​ Beyond these services, Christine offers postpartum belly binding, Ayurvedic Postpartum Caregiver support, guided infant massage to parents and caregivers, chakra balancing, lactation support, and open gathering circles for birthers and postpartum doulas in the community. Christine has enjoyed sharing her skills and passion with families for over 12 years, and thrives on bringing community members together to help support and uplift each other. She is a mother, a birth and postpartum advocate, and lover of the elements.

Hi, I’m Jaynie! I am a CACHE-Certified Newborn Care Specialist, Postpartum Doula, and New Parent Educator who has a passion for supporting newborns and their families for the first 12-16 weeks of life. I offer the families I work with unique expertise in newborn care, emotional and physical birth parent support, and parental education and family support. My job is to nurture and care for the newborn, the birth parent, and the entire family. As your Newborn Care Specialist, I’ll establish safe and comforting sleep practices, help you develop an easy-to-maintain daily and nightly schedule and routine, and create a system to track feedings, diaper changes, and sleep. I’ll also educate you on any aspects of newborn care you don’t feel confident in, especially for preemies, multiples, and/or medically fragile newborns. Most importantly, I will be there for overnights, responding to your baby’s needs while you get a full night of SLEEP!
