I had no idea what a doula was until someone sent me a thank you card one time that said “Thank you for being my doula”. This word really got me. I had no clue what that was. I decided to look it up and to my surprise I found it originated from Greece and means “to serve or mother the mother”. I instantly fell in love with that and realized that it was my calling. I hardly ever hold babies because they are in the safest place in the world, their mother’s arms. I always hold the mother though because just like her baby, she was just born too.

At 17, I was present for the home birth of my youngest sibling. In that moment, I turned to the midwife and told her I was going to do this (birth work) with my life. I am a newly licensed RN. I started in Labor and Delivery and have since chosen to pivot to pediatric nursing. I have two children of my own, ages 18 and 14. Before nursing, I was a birth doula in the Sacramento area where I served families out of the hospital as a privately hired doula and also in the capacity of hospital volunteer doula, at some points. My schedule changes week to week. If you’re interested in discussing my services, please send me an ideal schedule and preferred wage that you’re considering and we can proceed from there! I would also love to hear about your preferred care methods. My background as an RN in both critical care and medical oncology largely involved walking alongside patients facing the end of life. This led me to complete Birth and Postpartum Doula Training through DONA International, as well as Lamaze Childbirth Educator training, so I could better support families from pre-conception all the way through the “fourth trimester” of postpartum.
