I’m open to giving birth wherever it’s possible, preferably hospital because it’s safer but I’m open to home birth too, if I get enough of education and coaching. I am also going to be alone for this, my husband works nights, my family doesn’t live around, my mom can come to be with me few times a year for a bit. I’d pay using anthem ppo. First-time mom planning a hospital birth at Pomona Valley Hospital and looking for a birth/postpartum doula with a practical, evidence-based approach. I would like support during pregnancy with education, preparing for labor, helping me understand my options, and creating a birth plan/preferences document. During labor, I’m looking for someone calm and supportive who can help me advocate for myself, ask questions, and help me process decisions without pressure unless medically necessary. Postpartum support is my biggest priority. I would like help with recovery, breastfeeding/pumping support, newborn guidance, emotional reassurance, and preparing to return to work as an elementary teacher. I am hoping to breastfeed/pump and would value someone knowledgeable about lactation and pumping for working moms. I am open to holistic approaches as long as they are grounded in research and evidence-based care. I am planning to give birth in a hospital and am looking for a certified doula who accepts or is familiar with TRICARE Prime coverage. I'm not sure what to expect regarding the cost, so I am hoping to find someone whose services are covered by TRICARE or eligible for reimbursement. I am due on November 20, 2026. My birth plan is to try a low-dose epidural at first, with the option to increase it if needed. My goal is to have the best pain relief possible while maintaining safety for me and my baby. I prefer to avoid Pitocin unless it is medically necessary. I would also like to avoid giving birth flat on my back if possible and would prefer to labor and deliver in side-lying or other upright, supported positions as appropriate. During labor, I would like to use comfort measures such as a birth ball, peanut ball, and squat bar, and I prefer intermittent fetal monitoring if it is safe for me and my baby. After birth, I would like delayed cord clamping, to leave the vernix on my baby rather than wiping it off immediately, and to have uninterrupted skin-to-skin contact with either me or the baby's father for about the first hour before routine newborn assessments, provided my baby is healthy and does not require urgent medical care. I would prefer to delay the hospital bath and decline routine eye ointment unless it is medically necessary or required. I understand that my birth preferences may need to change if there is a medical concern for me or my baby. I am 28 years old, this is my first pregnancy, and I plan to breastfeed if possible but am open to supplementing with formula if medically necessary.
