I want a compassionate doula who has experience with birthing

I plan to give birth at UCLA Santa Monica. I really don't have much in the budget, maybe a couple thousand. I'm potentially interested in hypnotherapy and aromatherapy, but not opposed to an epidural, and would like a very quiet and calm environment with minimal yelling. Absolutely no circumcision under any circumstances. Apparently I have a chance at getting reimbursed for doula services if they work under a license of some kind, so that would be preferred. I have Blue Shield PPO, in case that's helpful. I'm 35 so "Advanced Maternal Age", and have been flagged as high-risk for my weight. Any experience helping first-time moms with larger bodies is appreciated. My first trimester has been very rough. Thanks for considering!

I’d like to give birth at a birthing center but my husband is leaning towards a hospital. I mainly want it to be a natural birth and to labor how I feel most comfortable. I don’t want to be pressured or pushed by the hospital in any way (including delayed cord clamping, keeping vernix on etc). My budget is $5k max if possible but not sure how much these services are (would like to use insurance if I can). My insurance is Aetna Choice II POS.

I am looking for someone who can help to protect me and help me feel safe and like my choices are being respected during labor. I am absolutely open to pain medications/necessary interventions, but I do have some fear in hospitals and I don't necessarily trust the medical system 100%. My budget is probably up to $1000, I'm giving birth at the UCLA center in Westwood. I am going to decide on an epidural as I go, but if I get one I want a walking epidural. I am afraid of C section to be honest, I would rather have some control and be able to move around but not feel rushed through or pressured into procedures that aren't necessary. I want to protect a calm and quiet environment as much as possible, I'm guessing I'm going to want to be very inward as I go through the process, at least as much as possible, but this is my first baby so I'm not 100% sure. Hoping to do intermittent monitoring if possible, want golden hour, don't want my provider to pull on my placenta or the cord. And I'd like delayed cord clamping :) I am definitely open to student doulas, but I don't think I want UCLA student doctors in and out disturbing my peace as I work through labor. Mainly just don't want the noise, distraction, additional people in the room.

Planning a hospital birth Birth plan is as holistic as possible while being safe for myself and baby

I will be delivering at Pomona Valley, likely in December, possibly early January. I am insured by IEHP Direct through Medi-Cal. I want as natural birth as possible in the sense that I only want medical intervention if it is absolutely necessary (no induction, no episiotomy etc). I am going in expecting to need an epidural but am also open to the idea of being unmedicated. I am looking for someone to assist with pain management and advocacy while in labor and for education in early/postpartum care for my baby (tips/tricks/lactation/mama stomach wrapping). I would like someone with no less than 3 years of experience and is possibly able to assist with postpartum care at home.

This is my first pregnancy, and I want to try to attempt the whole labor and delivery process without an epidural, if i can or for as long as i can, and if i cant handle it then possibly get an epidural. I am planning to give birth in a hospital and am looking for a certified doula who accepts or is familiar with TRICARE Prime coverage. I'm not sure what to expect regarding the cost, so I am hoping to find someone whose services are covered by TRICARE or eligible for reimbursement. I am due on November 20, 2026. My birth plan is to try a low-dose epidural at first, with the option to increase it if needed. My goal is to have the best pain relief possible while maintaining safety for me and my baby. I prefer to avoid Pitocin unless it is medically necessary. I would also like to avoid giving birth flat on my back if possible and would prefer to labor and deliver in side-lying or other upright, supported positions as appropriate. During labor, I would like to use comfort measures such as a birth ball, peanut ball, and squat bar, and I prefer intermittent fetal monitoring if it is safe for me and my baby. After birth, I would like delayed cord clamping, to leave the vernix on my baby rather than wiping it off immediately, and to have uninterrupted skin-to-skin contact with either me or the baby's father for about the first hour before routine newborn assessments, provided my baby is healthy and does not require urgent medical care. I would prefer to delay the hospital bath and decline routine eye ointment unless it is medically necessary or required. I understand that my birth preferences may need to change if there is a medical concern for me or my baby. I am looking for a certified doula with at least 10 years of experience supporting hospital births. I am 28 years old, this is my first pregnancy, and I plan to breastfeed if possible but am open to supplementing with formula if medically necessary. I would also appreciate postpartum support, including newborn education, breastfeeding guidance, and sleep training support after my baby is born. Most importantly, I am looking for a doula who complements my husband's role rather than replaces it. As first-time parents, we want someone who can help create a calm, low-stress environment, guide my husband on ways to comfort and support me during labor, and empower us to work together as a team throughout the birth experience.
