About me
My name is Janis Adams, I am a certified Labor Doula and I live near Atlanta. My background is in early childhood education. I am a mother of six and a grandmother of thirteen! I have worked in public school and currently hold a brokers license in Real Estate. Years ago, I went through labor and delivery with a couple I knew when they had their third child. Afterward both mom and dad thanked me for being the extra hands they needed! A week or so later T said, " You should think about becoming a Doula," you were so helpful! I thought to myself, "What's a Doula?" Since that time I have been involved with and supported many births over the years. The first time I ever went through birth as a support person was with my best friend 42 years ago; while I myself, was a week away from delivering my own first child. I have also been at the births of most of my grandchildren. I’ve also been there to assist, encourage and support my own daughters as they went through the birth experience for the first time. It was during the Pandemic that I enrolled and took courses to be come a labor doula. During that time the number of people that could be in the labor and delivery process was limited to just the mom and the dad unless you had a doula. One of my daughters and her husband were having their first child and they wanted me to be there. My daughter called and said to me that I had to become a doula! She gave me no choice! I am experienced with home births and water births. The things I do to relax are reading, gardening, sailing and traveling. Also, I have started a homeschool group and teach several students since the pandemic. In all, I have come full circle back to education but this time with adults and children!

Service introduction
I offer birth education, nutrition and exercise guidance and labor and birth support to first time parents and any others interested in personal support for subsequent births. VBAC patients are welcome. I am comfortable and will support home births or water births, in or out of institution or birthing centers. I accept payment through insurance and direct pay. At my initial consultation I can explain my fee scale. I look forward to connecting with you!

This was my first ever doula experience and Miss Janis really set the bar high, I will use her services again and again! She helped me get through a vbac, no epidural birth. Gave me lots of valuable information along the way and made sure I felt heard and seen by staff in the hospital. 5 stars, if I could give more I would.

Janis went above and beyond the "call of duty" as our doula. Her presence at the birth of our daughter was essential to my peace of mind. Throughout my pregnancy, Janis provided an array of knowledge which allowed me to feel comfortable and confident in my ability as a woman to birth our baby in as natural an environment as was intended. During the birth, Janis coached me through breathing and labor positions which helped to alleviate my discomfort and pain. Afterwards, she ensured both my partner and I were comfortable and the baby was latching properly. We are now expecting our 2nd child and excited to use Janis' services again!!
